How to get Win Explorer & others in regular taskbar ?

    Hello all

Brand new to Win7 from XP

A question I had, I see now where when I open Windows explorer and just about every other window that is seems to put them in the task bar area to the left instead of the old way.

I wouldn't mind so much but this also covers the Windows Explorer shortcut I have there and now every time I want to open another explore window I have to right click the programs taskbar icon and select it.

I guess simply put, how can I have all the bars on the right like it used to be?

    Thanks

You can pin items to the taskbar and arrange them however you'd like. Take a look at this demo video for more info - Windows 7 features - Windows Taskbar - Microsoft Windows

Thanks for the reply but that isn't how I'm using Win7

Basically I have it set up as close to what XP was like and have the short cut to Windows Explorer and Control Panel to the far left.

Problem is when I open most windows that create a taskbar icon, the icon for what ever I open sits over that short cut so I can't open another explorer window from it.

I have noticed that I can right click on the icon and get to it but that's more clicks plus the unpin option is there two and I have already deleted the shortcut a few times by accident.

Funny thing is not all this cover this as they stem to the right and continue like as before.

Just don't know why this is this way when it was so great before.

Just to reply to my own post with my fix.

Basically I added the Quick Launch tool bar from the add a bar options.

I then closed all the programs, unlocked the task bar, unpinned all the pinned shortcuts, dragged the Quicklaunch bar to the left, choose no label and no text for the short cuts and wallah, same task bar and operation as before.

Oh yeah and the added plus is the icons are nice and small just like before in XP.

    Nice.
