Problem with windows 7 disc burner

Hello. I noticed, after I installed Nero 9, that windows 7 native disc burner doesn't work anymore. When I copy a file to cd, and then i click on burn to disc, next, when it shows that bar with progress, all it works fine, until it gets to half, then the windows with windows 7 burner dissapears, and the cd won't go out; I have to restart the PC in order to get the CD out. But, when I burn the CD with Nero, everything works fine. Can you please help me to make the windows 7 disc burner tool work again? Thank you for your future replies.

    Your truly, Emilyan

Remove Nero and restart the system. Then reinstall Nero and see if that helps. If you got Nero from a torrent you probably got a bad file. If you bought it then you probably just need to reinstall.

I uninstalled Nero, tried to burn a cd with windows burn-to-cd, without succes(the same problem), installed it back, and still no change. And I bought nero from a local computers shop. What should I do? Thank you for future replies.

Edit: without having to reinstall Windows :)

Emilyann, you could always try the system file checker SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker just to be certain there are no corrupted system files

If it isn't too late, you could also return Nero 9. Anything above Nero 7 is bloated junk, and you can find free alternatives to it. I've also read of similar issues on other boards when Nero 9 has been installed.

A friend of mine told me of a program called tuneup utilities; I have bought the program, installed it, deleted nero, ran that program for a maintenance, it cleaned my registry for all entries, and now it works fine...just I have to sometimes click two times on burn to disc (first time it dissappears, second time it works). I ran SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker, but it didnt show me any error. I made a startup repair, but without success...my only option remained to reinstall windows (unfortunately) untill my friend told me of this program... Hope i won't have this problem again...Thank you for your replies, and I'll post here again if a new problem about disc burner occurs :) .

I had EXACTLY the same problem. ATAPI DVD, Nero 9.
I thought the 6 month old DVD drive had died!
Did a system restore and my whole OS screwed up. (but then I have some separate issues with system restore).
Solution: I did an image restore and everthing seems ok including the DVD.
Suggests to me a driver issue. Nero came "free" with the computer and won't see the light of day again.

Well, I do have this very same issue too, however I do not use Nero for a long, long time. In fact, Nero was never installed after this clean install of Win7. After losing 3 blank CDs in failed recording attempts, I downloaded ImageBurn (Freeware) as I had no time to understand and fix this issue.

The System Restore is not much of an option to me, as I have no idea when this feature stopped working -- I do record a disc once in a month, if that frequent.

Trying the SFC /SCANNOW, will look towards tuneup utilities if that doesn't solve the problem, before taking the Repair Install path.
