A couple of things:
1) I made a mistake and listed a -c option. Should have been -s.
2) please enter the other commands listed. In other words, there are 3 commands:
C:
cd \
c:\users\linda\download\contig\contig -s -q c:\

I also have shown the path you are using. On my system contig is in the system32 folder which is why I didn't need a full path statement.

You will find Rejzor's gui is a lot easier when using contig :

I just tried the contig advice (I have used Paragon many times in the past, but since I have already installed PW I don't really want to be trying tons of new software unless necessary)

I found that PowerDefragmenter did not work well with Win7.
Perhaps he has fixed that.
Later today, I'll give it a second chance.

I just used it - worked ok. V3 , I think - may be newer than the one you tried.

Karl, could you check those skydrive links - are you able to d/l them ? ( you don't have to complete the d/l - just see if it lets you )

Linda, did you do the PD10 offline defrag?

Rightclick on HD and choose "System" as I recall.

Are you calling me a horse, siw2?

Anyway, the contig did not work. Those 2 blocks I have pictured are still there. I'm using PerfectDisk to defrag, and PartitionWizard to partition. PW just does not want to move those files. And the Win7 app won't do it either.

So let's see what up that sleeve...

I'm using PD Professional 11 Trial. I'm not sure what you mean by offline defrag. Oh, unless you mean Boot Time? No, I didn't do that, I'll go try it now...

...Back again, no good. It got me down to one block, but I tried PW and got the same result. Maybe it's time to get rid of PD11 and try Defraggler?

Problem solved. I did it in steps. I used Win7 Shrink Volume to shrink as much as it would let me. Then i used PD11 offline to defrag what it would. Then i booted back into Win7, and used PD to analyze and see if those end files were gone. If they were, then I immediately went back to Win7 Shrink disk to shrink what I could.

Repeat repeat repeat. I had to do it about 4 times to get my partition down to 70GB. I plan on creating a Data partition and an Apps partition, maybe a few Linux partitions, so hopefully Win7 will have enough room with 70GB.

Thanks for the help guys, maybe this process can tell you what was hanging me up?

The MFT (master file table) was hanging you up. That is usually always sitting in about the middle of the partition. But with PW you should have been able to move it. Here is some more info.
