Windows 7 RC Freezes When Coming Back

When Win7 shuts does my monitors after 15 minutes of inactivity, it crashes completely when I bring it back.

So when I left for breakfast this morning and came back, I moved the mouse to get the display on again...the mouse moved around for a few seconds then stopped. Freeze. No task manager nothing...I had to pull the plug and restart the computer, and it works fine.

I replicated this as well. I just left it sitting there for 15 minutes, the monitors went off. I went to bring it back and again, freeze.

Only programs that I was probablly running during both instances are uTorrent and Firefox (No-addons, one maybe two tabs.)

My screen saver is set to "none" if that helps. For now, I can alleviate this issue by setting the "Turn Display Off After" to "Never" in the power settings, which is fine with me. I just thought I'd post this up.

When you say you updated the to the latest build, but you say you downloaded it from MS. I thought MS only allowed you to download build 7100? Am I wrong and have they released other builds on their site? All the builds since 7100 you had to obtain through torrents because they were leaked, and not released by MS.

I think he just means he went to microsoft.com and downloaded what was there as of yesterday.

I'm running the version MS provided on thier website.

Ok, that part confused me a bit. Now, you say it shuts down your monitors after a while, is this just the monitors turning off, or does it go into full blown sleep mode? Also, someone mentioned it may have come in an update. Try uninstalling all the updates that were not driver related, and see if it still gives you the problem.

Having the same issue and I believe that grouchpunk may be right in his assesment (re updates). I have been running the RC from when it was first available and was having nary a problem up until about a week or two ago. Now, 10 to 15 mins of inactivity and the system hangs.

    Spec:
    Processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
    Memory 6 GB
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GTX
