Ok you need a different device or leave your pc on and just put it to sleep and when you wake it up you won't have wait for a boot time. Or get an Ipad or like fishnbanjo said get some dedicated device like a smart phone/tablet that does those things specifically.

Type msconfig in Start search box. On Startup Tab, deselect all items except AV, gadgets if u use them. Anything else can wait til you click on it to start up, otherwise it is a freeloader on your RAM/CPU and mostly phones home to spy on you.

Next, install CCLeaner, "Run Cleaner" and then on Registry tab "Check for Problems" and clean them up.

Next, install Auslogics Disk Defragger and run monthly after CCLeaner to keep your computer clean and ordered.

Check Optional Windows Updates to see if newer drivers are available.

Replace bloated paid AV with lightweight, invisible Microsoft Security Essentials. Installs in 30 seconds, updates and then disappears until a threat arises.

Report back how much these steps improve your startup time. Consider using Sleep for quick wake-up, then restart once a week to avoid constipation.

This is the kind of thing metalmania31 is referring too,

ASUS' Express Gate 2.0 instant-on OS demoed on video -- Engadget

It isn't something you can add to just any computer, it has to be supported by the motherboard. I haven't looked into it but as far as I know Asus is the only one to offer it (my motherboard has it but never tried it).

Edit: You could always try something like this,

    DSL information

and boot it from a USB drive.

Stormy, ExpressGate is pretty good. Very basic, but loads up in about 5 seconds. I have it on my Asus laptop as well.

I also agree with the DSL. I haven't seen it in action though.

I have an Asus board with it, I've always meant to have a go at it but never get around to it.

My laptop had something similar. Dell's mediadirect. But that function is not available to me because I got rid of it when I upgraded to Win 7. Plus I never used it. I guess that sort of thing needs to be built in/proprietary. Or at least that's only how it's offered. But what the OP wants is probably not doable on his computer. Plus he says he doesn't need speeding up, but he complained about how slow his computer boots. Huh?

If you want quick access, and have wireless access, get an iPod Touch. You can access Facebook, YouTube, your email whatever you want to very quickly. Other than that you will just have to put your computer into sleep mode instead of shutting it off completely.
