You might try a different video card and see if the symptoms stay the same.

I have been using Windows 7 64-bit (beta -> RC -> RTM) for a year without any sleep resume problems until now.
In the last 10 days, I have not been able to get the PC to resume.
The problems are exactly the same as Seano's (on page 1)
I tried everything I could think of including all the various fixes on the forum threads to no avail.
I had to press the power button on the case. This then switched off the machine.
After that I could then press the power button again and the machine would starts up and very slowly resume from hybrid sleep mode.
I have since implemented LordBob's solution and still no response from the mouse or keyboard.
I still have to do the above but at least now the PC starts normally (quicker) instead of trying to resume from sleep.
It just seems strange to me that it has only been happening for about 10 days, especially as I haven't installed any new hardware or software in that time.

Did you try a system restore to a date prior to the time the problem started?
As for me, I am getting the black screen sometimes on resume from sleep. I haven't yet figured out the cause or the solution but am going to try the processor power state suggestion from above. I've tried just about everything else I can think of.
I have had this problem since I started using Win 7 I have researched it and none of the solutions worked. I then saw a post about this being caused by and old version of Atronics true imaging software. When I uninstalled this old software this problem went away.
maybe this will help.
I was also having a similar issue with suspend. Out of the blue w/o any changes the system would either hang indefinitely, reboot after a min, or would appear to wake normally for up to 30 sec and then reboot(and there would be video artifacting around the mouse cursor just before it crashed). Aside from sleep I had no performance issues whatsoever. I tried clean installing 7 x64 over a dozen times. Tested all different power states in BIOS and even with hibernate the problem persisted. Verified each stick of memory with memtest 1 at a time (4 sticks) and swapped power supply, HD, and CPU. Confirmed no windows update were culprit. Upgraded/downgraded drivers and BIOS. Disabled all PCI devices on motherboard including USB, SATA IDE... Swapped my GTX 465 for a GT 240, even so far as to buy another motherboard of same model and the issue still continued. And I have no idea why but what finally fixed it was swapping the vid card again for my old 8800 GTS. After it was working normally I swapped it back for the 465 and it has continued to act properly for over a month now. I don't know if it's relevant but my MB, the 465 and 240 are ASUS and the 8800 is a MSI. Or perhaps it's architecture is completely different from the other two. If you don't have a spare card in a drawer somewhere you can borrow a friend's, hopefully you will have the same luck I did.
The card swap worked for a couple weeks but the problem has resurfaced. I think we can further rule out nvidia's drivers as being a cause as I just tried a 9500GT and used MS WDDM drivers and it's still crashing. According to the dmp file it seems to be related to dxgkrnl.sys, part of directx. I will post back when I learn more.
