Stop taskbar icon, same program, roll outs ????

    Hello all

Sorry if this is already a much discussed topic but...

First to state, I am using Win7 in as bout a classic format as I can, no aero and everything else basic. Basically for the interface the thing looks & works as much like 95 as I can.

As well I am using the never combine option on the task bar.

So how can I stop the upward grouped roll out of all the other open window taskbar icons I have from the same program when ever I roll over any of the taskbar icons

In other words I, might have about 6 windows of my browser open, all at different sites, and all being represented by a task bar Icon.

Then if I roll over any of these, I get this menu that jumps up to the top of each one, showing again all the taskbar icons I already have being shown on the horizontal taskbar.

Basically these are not needed as they are all already accessible, as well this menu often blocks my view from the screen at being able to see what's on the page at the same time I am trying to decide which window I might like to reopen. So all in all its a complete pain.

Hopefully this is something that can be done

    Thanks for any help

    Thanks for the reply wallyinnc

Basically I have done pretty much everything in that tutorial either by what is there or some other way manually.

I did not install that theme though as I pretty much have been able to everything without it aside from this one last thing so I don't have to run Aero.

But is what I'm asking for in that theme, or in soemthing else on that page that you could specifically point out as I don't see anything to my limited experience that describes it.

    Thanks

    WBF, thanks for the feedback.

I will have to get back to my home computer where I run Win7 to be able to research a bit more (this XP machine doesn't help...)

But, are you sure you disabled Aero? From what I know the feature you mention is one of the Aero features. I always had mine on, so I can't tell now.

    Get back to you...

Out of curiosity, why would you disable performance features, like Aero? You may not be aware, but Aero uses the video card to handle on screen object, as opposed to pushing that work through the processor, as well as anything else you are working on. There are many people who have this misguided view that disabling these features actually improves performance...but they don't. This isn't XP and shouldn't be treated as such. Call me crazy, but I don't ever understand why people disable enhancements...whether they be for speed or usability, they are still enhancements.

I think it is a matter of taste, he doesn't like the preview function in Aero.

    Hello !!

Windows 7 does not include a GUI to disable the task-bar thumbnail preview feature. Check this article How To Disable Taskbar Thumbnail Preview in Windows 7 - The Winhelponline Blog it used to work for most of the people.

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Wow thanks a bunch Capt Jack.

The link to add a dword to extend the delay did just what I needed.

Set mine to 10 sec and now I can surf the pages and browse down and thru the icons in the task bar without them instantly jumping a large menu up in my way.

    Thanks again

    Great help
