    Wont save program changes

I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I just got a new Samsung R780 laptop with Win 7 home premium (updating from the old laptop win xp). Everything seems to work well but one program I re-insatlled on the new machine--corel's photoimpact x3--wants me to register it every time I turn the laptop on. I hit the never register because it is already registered (to me on the old machine) but when I reopen windows it prompts me again.

Also my DivX player has an new version that Windows prompts me to load every time as well. I load the new version, I've even used it, but the next time I open windows it's gone and prompts me to load the new version.

I've made sure the "Store and display recently opened items" box in 'properties' is checked, but I didn't really expect that to be the problem. What am I missing?

Thanks , I tried to keep it as brief as possible. I hope there's enough info...although I wouldn't know what else to add anyway.

The registration is probably looking at a .ini entry or a registry entry to verify registration. Do you have a .ini file associated with that program on your XP machine? Or you could re-register.

This may be the same type of problem, but if nothing else works, perhaps uninstall and reinstall.

Oh, thanks, I don't know what I had on the XP machine, it was destroyed in an auto accident. I'll try re-registering it and see if it helps thanks.
