Easy Transfer How to Delete Files

    Hey Guys,

I am new to all these forums and technology. I see the value!!!! $$$$

I have been trying to figure this out for 2 hours.

    1. I opened Easy Transfer on my laptop which was running xp home.
    2. Transfer successful to Seagate 750GB external hard drive.
    (I just downloaded everything)
    3. I did a custom install on SAME laptop with Win 7 Pro.
    4. I can get to the Easy Transfer Reports, but I don't know how to delete
what I don't want on "clean" computer.
    - I don't need : Carbonite- trial only
    AVGfree- Just bought Norton's

Welcome to the Forum justinp73. I'm not positive, but I believe you set up what you want to keep BEFORE you do the transfer. Since you transfered everything, I think you may have missed the boat on choosing what you want. Hope if I am incorrect, someone will correct me. A Guy

Correct,, you will need to restore everything and delete/uninstall (if possible) what you do not want.

Just don't install the apps you want to eliminate and then restore the easy transfer file. Easy transfer will report that you need to install the missing apps but you don't have to. Then you can run a search for relevant files and delete them to free up space.

As stated before...you should decide what you want at the "export from old pc" step.

Thanks Guys, I did easy transfer from a laptop with vista. I converted it to Win 7.

    How do I "restore" info?

I have 2 computers, both with Win 7. Am I going to have to find a friend with Vista?

Re-install your apps, then use the Easy Transfer Wizard to restore your vista data to the Windows 7 install.

Click start and type "easy" in the search box which will bring up the results above....just click on Windows Easy transfer, choose the file storage method you used (ie...network location, flash drive, etc) click next, then choose this is my new computer and point to the file. Just follow instructions from there....... That's all there is to it.
