"Browse for Folder" dialogs appear blank

I only recently began using Win7, and have recently begun encountering a problem. In any and all programs which ask the user to select a file or folder (Calibre, Mp3tag, etc.), the dialogue that should contain a folder tree, or other explorer options appears blank (see attached images for examples).

I have installed various visual styles, however, the problem persists even after switching back to a default aero vs.

    Any thoughts?

Welcome to Seven Forums srkMac. Try this:

Start> Type cmd in search box> right click on cmd.exe in results above> click on Run as Administrator

When command prompt opens, type the following (notice the spaces) :

    regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

    Press Enter

    regsvr32 /i browseui.dll

    Press Enter

Reboot and see if problem is fixed. This will reregister the dll files. A Guy

Hello srkMac, welcome to SEven Forums!

If you're saying that you've added "external themes" to your Windows 7, a lot of people have different issues with adding various theme packs, that may be the cause of your issue.

First, thank you both for your assistance.

    @ A Guy-

Tried the fix you suggested via command prompt. Returned an error message claiming that the .dll was not found. (Same error message returned for both dll files). Anything I can do? Or is there a way to obtain the necessary dll files (I have no physical media as my laptop was preloaded with win7 x64)?

    Screens attached. Thanks in advance.

On a re-read of that error message, there appears to be a problem with dll registry server?

Both those dll files should be in your System32 folder:

    c:\windows\system32\

Have a look and see if they are indeed there or not.

The dll files are both there, but I still get the error message.

Also, it would seem that only 32-bit programs are affected by this (those located in Program Files (x86)). x64 programs work fine.
