    Windows 7 not working

    Hi.

I am a newbie into computers and all. I recently got my laptop and installed Windows 7 on it. It was going on weel for the last six months. But since 2 days it got this weird problem. It doesnt boot at times, if it boots it doesnt opne all programs. Task Manager, windows media player, services, system restore, nothing opens. If I try to save some word document it says disk space error. Can you kindly tell me a way to get out of this except for reformatting.

By the way the config of my sytems is 3GB Ram, 250GB hard disk, Intel core tu duo processor

Welcome to Seven Forums ssudheer. If this problem is very recent, you can try restoring to a date before the problem started:

    System Image Recovery

Try that 1st. If no joy, we can get deeper into your problem.

Start your PC in Safe Mode:

    Safe Mode

Choose Safe Mode With Command Prompt. When it loads (hopefully) type in

    rstrui.exe

And press enter, this should open System Restore. Then use the mothod in link in my 1st reply.

    Good luck. A Guy

    1) Run an sfc /scannow command. You need to run it a few times since sfc doesnt repair everything in one go.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    2) If the above doesnt help, try doing a repair install.

    Repair Install

Thanks Bill, I had to go to bed. It sounds like he has issues, hardware? (hopefully not). The OS itself (hopefully at this point). Infection? (Clean install). Next up I was going to suggest what you did. Let's hope that takes care of it. A Guy
