The taskbar: Explorer windows stuck together

    Hello,

I'll spare you time and get straight to the point. It's about the Windows 7 taskbar, as of now I've five windows opened, the following: Firefox, Mp3 (folder), my documents, winamp and OpenOffice.

As you well are aware of it's possible to arrange them left to right, like move so that Winamp comes dead last (Firefox, Mp3 (folder), my documents, OpenOffice and Winamp).

However, when I move Mp3 - my documents follow - this means I cannot place "mp3" last without the other (windows) explorer windows, my documents in this case.

Also, when when I open new explorer window (like my computer) they place them right after the current explorer windows so it becomes:

Firefox, Mp3 (folder), my documents, my computer, OpenOffice and Winamp.

So my questions are, how do I stop this madness?
    A) That the explorer windows are stuck together.
    B) That new explorer windows don't opens up after the other ones. It should behave like all other programs, and open last in the order.

You may have Malware or some file corruption going on. If you go to Start> type scannow /sfc and when it comes up at the top right mouse click and run as administrator and see if it suggests to do a repair. Download Malwarebytes, use the free download Malwarebytes just to be 100% your OK.

This is by design. Like windows are grouped together.

Windows explorer is "stickied" to the taskbar and it groups the windows explorer windows.

So, yes, this is by design.

A work around may be to unpin explorer from the taskbar and choose not to group taskbar icons. right click on taskbar and properties.

Oh, now I noticed it too by opening several VLC players. Bad design choice, if you ask me.

But anyway, thanks for telling me! :)

Eh? There's no option to not group taskbar icons.

right click on the task bar -> properties -> Choose the dropdown for "task bar buttons" and choose "never combine"

Mine's already on never combine. I assume that combines them into one explorer window on with a small number on it (telling you how many windows that window holds). It's like that in XP anyway.
