Ok, I will try that and attempt the install one more time. Do I have to do that last step since I'm not running 64 bit? I have a few errands I have to do today so I will probably try this later this evening and I will post my results once more. I wish the damn installation didn't take an hour though....

Nope- if you are 32bit only then the last does not apply to you.

Ok, I tried the disk cleanup and erasing my restore points and still no avail!! I even broke down and attempted a full install, erasing all of my data(after backing up of course on another HDD) and didn't even get past the second step of the installation, and getting the dreaded BSOD...I really don't know what the deal here is. I think I am just going to wait for the public beta to hit the net and give that a try....

ok now there might be something wrong with your hardware...
i dont know if you want to
but can you post your complete specs including you hd motherboard CPU and ram??
this might be more serious than a software installation...
or maybe it might just be incompatible hardware
but that is unlikely.... as you have vista install and working perfectly...
if you dont know your hardware and this is a OEM computer
can you post the manufacture and the model #???

No prob, here are the exact specs: LINK the only thing I have replaced in my computer is the HDD which is a FUJITSU MHV2120BHPL (120 gigs), and my comp orignally only came with 512mb of ram which i upgraded to 1 gig a few years ago, and cant remem the actual ram model...

I know my machine sucks, lol, but it actually runs Vista beautifully, without Aero of course (stupid GMA 915 gfx card.... ) and I have been hearing nothing but success stories on older hardware and 7's better performance than Vista's, and can't se why 7 wouldn't even install at all...

How would removing one of the sticks help with the installation?

It seems that you have tried nearly every option aside from a fresh install and if I were you I would just stick with Vista, which IMO is a great OS and as you have aging hardware it's probably not worth worrying about Windows 7 until you have the hardware to run it.

Alternatively you may try upgrading to the 6801 build which is more similar to Vista. Another thing I should mention is that I was unable to do a fresh install of the 6936 build without having 6801 build installed first. If I formated the hard drive it got to the final stage at the point where it was installing the display drivers and then it went blank and the monitor went into standby

At that point I tried a reset but was unable to get the install to continue and found that the only way to install the later build was to have 6801 installed first, strange i know and don't ask me why but maybe it is worth a try and might alow you to do the same.
