Windows 7 not as popular as I thought...

. My windows 7 box on the other hand has to reboot regularly. a few crashes in 4 months, but not many. Definitely an improvement over the past versions of Windows.

Seems to me your machine needs looking at, I've used 7 from launch date and never had a crash.

Crashes are invariably down to a machine fault.

I would also say that they are helping the environment by implementing into their software the ability for CPU's that downclock when not needed, ram that takes less mhz, hard-drives that dont spin and integrated GPU's that dont generate as much heat. The whole computer industry itself does the best it can to move toward the Green side of things. With Energy-Star compliant Hardware to more efficient software even to highly recyclable aluminum body cases (MacbookPro anyone?). If anything MS is helping the environment by making strides forward instead of backward. Windows 3.1 is probably more wasteful if trying to run what we run today. Win 7 does all this stuff easily and efficiently.
