Windows 7 x86
64 over 86

Just a quick question, I am reasonably self sufficient when it comes to windows problems and quirks.

But I would really appreciate an answer to one question I can not find.

I ran Vista x86, have installed 7 x86 over the top as an upgrade, no issues what so ever. Everything is running like clockwork.
7 is running as the only OS on this box.

Can I install x64 over the top of x86 safely and in confidence that I wont screw up years of work?

64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Hello Legend, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm sorry, but you must do a clean install when going from 32-bit to 64-bit instead. It will not allow you to do a upgrade install for this.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

x86 is old news. Go with x64. You can always use the export / import wizard to get your old system integrated into the new one.

Every time I touch 32 bit code I have to wash my hands.
