    Missing or corrupt installation files?

Alright so I got an installation disk that actually has files on it and show up on my computer but I have a new problem now in which an error shows up saying that some of the neccesary files are not being found which is really unfortunate. The error code I am getting is: Ox80070017
    Any help would be appreciated.

What files are not being found?

Did you try getting the hashes for the .iso you downloaded?

7100 x64 should give these results:

    CRC32: 58FB2BE0
    MD5: 98341AF35655137966E382C4FEAA282D
    SHA-1: FC867FE1AB2E0A9796F9E4D155B44EA6998F4874

HashTab... is the coolest thing ever!

    Hope it helps

It could also be a burn problem. Higher burn speeds are more likely to cause burn errors which lead to read errors. Try burning at the slowest speed possible and see what happens.

    Hope this helps :)

Have you tried booting it with 2GB of ram. If not remove 2GB and see if it boots up.

I wouldn't think that should have an effect on it.

I think some people have been having issues with 4GB of ram in. There's no harm in trying it just to rule it out.

    I'm experiencing the same problems

I have been trying to download windows 7 RC since it was first released. The first problem I had was completing the download, it would go to 99% downloaded and do an integrity check, but it would fail and have me download the file all over again. I was albe to do a direct download for both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions. I burned them to a DVD at the lowest speed possible and windows 7 gets to 20% of of expanding the files and gets the same exact message as previously shown in this topic. Please help, I have burned 6 DVDs and all say the same thing. By the way, yes I am doing a clean install.

I know this is a year old topic but I just encountered this problem myself and this is in hopes to help someone else out.

I have an Alienware 17x that I got a virus on. I completely wiped my Solid State Drive and began trying to install. I got this same error regardless. I replaced the SSD thinking that something was corrupted. After replacing it still had the problem. The solution for me was ultimately that my Optical Disk Drive was malfunctioning. Strangely it would run the CD but after about 20% into the install it would fail.

Hope this helps someone out there!
