Merge multiple folders

I have a couple of folders that I want to merge into one folder.
What is the best way to do this?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM

Open one folder...
Ctrl-A to select all
Ctrl-C to copy
open the other folder
Ctrl-V to paste

verify that everything got copied, then delete the first folder.

Easiest way is to rename one of the folders to the same name as the other folder, and choose merge.

I.E. if you have "Pics" and "Pics1" (located in the same directory), you can change "Pics1" to "Pics", and choose "Yes".

Voila :)

You can make a new folder, then drag the others into it.

not so gray matter

One simple shortcut is to rename the folders to the same name. Once you've done this you should see a dialog which asks you if you want to merge the contents of the two folders. Granted, this will only work for one folder at a time.

If you're looking for a more comprehensive solution, you may want to look into a more in depth file manager than explorer.

Old but relevant.
Make 2 new folders
Open the first
Copy all the folders you want to merge into the first.
Then Search *.* it will show everything including sub directories.
If grouped by type just click the File Folder Group and then select inverse to select everything else.
Then drag those search results to a new folder to the second.

There is probably software, but I never do it enough to need it.

Place all folders you desire to merge into one 'upper level folder'
Then use 'windows search' in that 'upper most folder' This does the trick!
Copy out what you want or 'copy all' and paste where you want it.

depending on your folder/search settings you may need to do an 'advanced search' and choose "only this folder".

Not fast for network drives but for drives with superfetch its great.

search for : *.* or *.mp3 or even advanced search; this is how I make playlists for Android using windows; I do my search in the 'upper folder'; copy out all relevant music; paste ; then right click and 'create playlist' from the context menu. DONE.

doing it this way reduces the amount of music/space I need to keep on my phone.
