Windows 7 keeps deleting my files

Hi. My windows keeps deleting files with an .lz extension right after they are downloaded to there . It deletes them for ABSOLUTELY no reason . The antivirus doesn't scream , nor the folder and files are in C: or in a system folder. The folder is mine and those files are needed for a game , so every time i start the game it downloads them again and again. I Observe how they comeup in the directory , and right after they are downloaded , windows deletes them (they dissapear) . How to fix this ? It's driving me crazy.

.lz files are Lzip Compressed Files. They could contain anything. Did you just download this game? Do the files actually download, and then disappear? Do you see anything in your AV event logs at all? Games, if downloaded from questionable sources are a major carrier or virus, worms, keyloggers, etc. A Guy

Is it possible for some strange reason these files have the "hidden" attribute to them. Goto folder options and check show hidden files. ...Its unlikely, but worth a try. I've never heard of this happening before and if your av is not blocking/quarantine them I wouldn't know what else to try other than if this game has forum you could try. Have you googled around?

Just to point it out. Windows itself is not deleting your files. It doesn't do that kind of stuff.
Either your game or another application you are running is doing that.
We are going to need more information to solve this.

Well, every time i start the game , it starts downloading the files again . And because the files aren't very small.... it takes around 2-3 hrs .But even after a reinstall, the problem doesn't go away . The game is a MMORPG , and im 100% sure there is no virus or anything maicious in the .lz files (Game client is downloaded from official site). I've played the game in winXP and never had a problem like this.

EDIT: When it downloads the .lz files i notice it says :
    pack/****.epk.lz downloading
    pack/****.epk unpacking
Failed to open destination file! pack\****.epk, last error 32

Have you checked the settings of the game itself? Maybe it is set to delete temporary files when they are no longer needed?

Also, where are the files being saved to? If they are being saved to a protected location (like "C:\Program Files", "C:\Program Files (x86)", "C:\Windows", or a subfolder of these), then maybe they are being moved to "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore"? If this is the case, try uninstalling the game, then re-installing to a non-protected user-create location, such as "C:\Games"

I mentioned in the 1st post that the files aren't in C: , and in the quoted post that reinstalling doesn't work. here is what happends when the game starts ( it happends for every .lz file ) :
When it downloads the .lz files i notice it says :
    pack/****.epk.lz downloading
    pack/****.epk unpacking
Failed to open destination file! pack\****.epk, last error 32

EDIT: Fixed. Hope it doesn't come up again :)
