    My Shortcuts just wont work!

Hi everyone i have searched all over google but just cant seem to get to the bottom of my problem. I have been trying to create a shortcut for my Microsoft Security Essentials when i create one to the desktop it works fine but when i transfer it to rocketdock it just comes up the path is not t specified. Its driving me mad the same thing happens when i try and add system restore to my dock, but when i create the shortcut to the desktop it always works fine

    Hellpppppp

Hmm, my MSE shortcut works very well in Rocket Dock. I just dragged it from the desktop into the dock. Did you do it the same way and do other shortcuts work in Rocket Dock?

This is the strange thing mate i have lots of shortcuts on my dock and they all work fine. I am using a stack docklet so i have put all the shortcuts i want into one folder and put the folder on the dock. Everything seems to work bar any windows tools its just annoying the work when you place them on the desktop but not when they are in the folder on the dock. I have done the exact same thing on my vista laptop and it works fine just to make me go that little bit more mad

You see by deleting it you removed the path and thats why it will give you an error

I have managed to get disk defrag in my folder on the dock to load up, some apps will only work if i copy and paste the "exe" file into the folder on the dock (dont really know how this works as there is no target file location specified to load the exe but it does) some apps only work when i paste the "ink" shortcut file in the folder on the dock. Kinda bizzare really hey

Thats exactly what I said in my reply that some works and some dont... when you copying the exe file you wouldn't need a path and it is not really a shortcut... I dont really know why but I am glad you sorted.

I know this thread is practically ancient by now, but I experienced this problem earlier today and could not find any answers.

What the dock wants is a direct link to the actual .exe file. It doesn't want a shortcut that points to it, although this is by far the easiest and most obvious way to get yourself to any program.

Unfortunately, what this means is that you'll have to dig through the Program Files via a file explorer to find each and every executable for every program you want to access through RocketDock.. a very time consuming project. Be careful not to delete anything while browsing around in these folders or you'll corrupt things.
