Hi hythamnsr, welcome to the forums.

Don't give up so soon, i'll do some digging for you :)

If, while i'm away you could update your system specs (click User CP) and you can edit your information.

If you are not sure.....go with 32 bit. It will do fine.

To run x64 you need a processor that will handle it. I don't know if your's is x64.

I would go with x86 (or 32bit) and maybe next time you upgrade, x64 will still be there.

You should be fine with 32 bit. You will not notice any difference.

    Hope that helps.

    Didn't take me long

If this - HP Notebook Pavilion model DV6755EE | Qatar Living (click the blue text)- is your laptop then you can quite happily run Windows 7. Truth is, it'll run better than it does on my laptop

I would go with 32bit but if you've got 4GB + of RAM then you can run 64bit.

A quick google led to this page HP Pavilion dv6755ee Notebook PC - Product Specifications which gave me the processor type so a further google led to Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7700 (4M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) which indicated that it supports 64-bit.

Hi hythamnsr, I am not an expert, and I'm sure if you are a bit more patient you will get plenty of responses from experts. Looking at the specs of your laptop I presume it came out with Vista 32bit (x86) So it would probably be best to go for the 32bit version of Windows 7 (x86) It depends on what you want to do with your laptop, and also what programs you will use. If you are going to use it with like Photoshop or other programs that use high resources it might be wise to go for the 64bit (x64) version. But for everyday use, the 32bit version will be sufficient.
There are a lot of discussions in this forums about 32bit versus 64bit Operating Systems. Just look around. I am sure you will get plenty answers. (Take in consideration that a 32bit OS is called x86, and a 64bit OS is called x64)
I hope I have helped you a bit, but if you want some more info, look around in this forum, or just wait a bit. :)

only by installing the OS. Since its free atm, now would be a good time to test it.

They had Home Premium 32 bit on it when made. I would go with 32 bit this time.
