Probably not, The new computer will most likely have an OEM edition. That means it cannot be moved from that one computer.

    OEM only one computer
All others one computer at a time.

When you get the computer, if the OS is on, its activated and ready to go. The mfg of the computer buy cheap OEM Systems. Cannot be removed from the computer an installed on another.

No, an OEM license is bound to the hardware that you purchased it on.

How about your Ultimate version which you want to install over Home Premium. Did it come with it's computer also?

If that's the case, you can move neither. Ultimate would need to be retail Upgrade or Full Version.

no. my laptop orignally came wiht vista home basic but i upgraded because my hard drive crashed and i had no other OS to put on it. i was originallly going to put vista home premium on it but harvey norman had run out so they gave me vista ultimate for $200 and i then got windows 7 with the free upgrade service through microsoft.

If you bought Vista Ultimate retail and the Win7 Ultimate was an Upgrade kit then you should be able to install Win7 Ultimate wherever you want it using this method: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

The Home Premium factory install on the new computer most likely will be OEM so will have to stay with that computer. I would keep Home Premium on it unless and until you need the few added features that are in Ultimate, then you can Upgrade.
