Brightness not accessible when returning from sleep mode

    Windows 7 Ultimate on DV6-2044CA

So brightness works well when i turn on the cmoputer from shut down.

I can change it, use mobility center to change it, use power options to change it, use FN + Fx keys to change it.

Then i go to sleep mode as i travel around (laptop) and when i turn it back on, the brightness is much dimmed (about 60%) and i cannot change it.

In fact, the brightness box in Mobility Center has disappeared..
Power options, whenever i use the brightness slider, no effect...
FN + Fx keys do not work, also.

The solution is to either enter hibernation mode, and turn it back on or to Shut Down, then turn it back on...

    Possible workaround ways???

    Thanks

    COol, thanks for the reply.

    The difference is:
I come back from sleep mode and the problem persists.
I come back from hibernation and the problem is gone (brightness control works)
And i have (sorry forgot to mention) an ATI mobility radeon hd 4200 card

But, the page did help me because it could be a ati driver problem.
The update was recent enough to make it be a suspect of this problem.
All i can do is wait for ATI's driver update.

    ANyone else?

Laptop display. Laptop displays don't have brightness or contrast buttons on the front. For a majority of laptops, there isn't a control for setting the contrast. However, you can set the brightness of many laptops by pressing and holding the Fn key, and then pressing a function key to decrease brightness () or increase brightness (). When using Display Color Calibration on a laptop, set the display to the maximum brightness setting

    I found this under brightness.

the problem with that is, you use the controls on your display and the problem with my problem is that the FN / Fx keys do not work after it coems back from sleep mode.

it works when powering on from a shut down, but not from sleep mode
