    Getting file information hang.

This is a real weird problem, im trying to figure out if anyone can help me find the fix would be helpful.

basically sometimes when im downloading a file using IE 8. it goes to save as i can pick location to save my file.

sometimes it just hangs on getting file information and times out. ( thought the link was dead ) then used IDM - internet download manager it works...

tried same link on firefox it works...

wondering why sometimes IE 8 hangs on getting file information?

Last i remember was doing some registry tweaks,

already reinstalled windows 7, ran uniblue's registry.

can't seem to find the fix

have reset internet settings, checked security settings tab aswell. no firewall, not my eset nod32 antivirus blocking.

This could be the problem in itself. Messing with the registry can do things you don't want!

Hello hkop, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you can remember when you fooled with the registry you can do a system restore to a point before you made the changes and it may help, have a look at the tutorial at the link below and stay out of the registry.

i know i the system restore didn't work cuz i did a reinstall of windows 7 no restore points

i just don't get how some files work and some just hangs at getting file information.

    not sure what's up.

but all files work at IDM

Stop 'tweaking' the registry and you'll have fewer problems.

We need informations about what you did tweaked in order to help you.

-Did you tweaked to accelerate (boost) IE8?
    -Did tweaked for security purposes?
-Did you tweaked to enhance effect?

Where picked you up those anyway? That might be the clue for you searching back the sites you went, to revert some of them.

    Might try aswell some HERE:
