I've downloaded it, but I'm undecided if I'm going to install it or not, so I voted "maybe". If for some reason I end up doing a clean install on one of my rigs I'll likely try it then.

I'm testing it already. Have the watermark down in the corner, which is kind of annoying, but I can live with it. Startup time seems to have slowed down quite a bit. That's pretty much all I've noticed so far.
I also noticed slower boot times but after the 3th or 4th boot It's back to normal boot times.

Hopefully it's that way with my comp too then, although it may take me a month to get 4 reboots in lol.

Do you have to have a Technet subscription to get the SP1 beta or can anyone try it?

No, you need a live id, then just put IT worker in your business field.

Not sure so maybe. To this point I have always tried all of the new beta Service Packs in XP and Vista, but now I am not sure.
Because there is nothing in SP1 that would really need to be tested on my part, and my current system works just fine, what if SP1 breaks it? I could install it to Windows 7 in Virtual PC to test it out.

I just made an image right before I installed it, if I don't want it or don't like it I'll

just re-image and be done with it.

I waffled for a bit ... downloading it now. I Beta tested SP2 for Vista and I had no problems, so here goes!

Same here. I'll probably throw it on one of my spare computers.

Good point. That's why I'm doing what I posted above. :)
