    How to properly reinstall Windows Mobile Device Center?

    (If there is a better forum or place to ask the below question please advise!)

    The SW I am using to synchronize my Windows Mobile phone with my desktop Outlook recently turned more and more sour and eventually always only seconds after connecting the device reproducibly crashed with the message "Window mobile Device Center Sync Host has stopped working.".

    Eventually I decided to uninstall "Windows Mobile Device Center" and re-install it.
    To reinstall I ran the setup.exe program that I had found in C:\Windows\WindowsMobile. But apparently that was either not the right setup file or some pieces must still be missing, because since that re-install the greenish dialog that used to open when starting WMDC lacks the right part of the content and instead there is now always an alert popping up: "unhandled exception has occured in your application ...." (the details I append below).

    That means, that my mobile device synchronization is now completely f*$#%# up. Any idea how to re-install Window Mobile Device Center plus Mobile Sync Center such that they work again?

    Michael

    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.
    For example:
    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>
    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

    Download and install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1. I don't see a separate install for Windows Mobile Sync Center.

    I did but, alas, the problem remains. I downloaded the install file, uninstalled the old version, then re-installed the downloaded one, rebootet and tried to sync again. But to my disappointment, during the first phase of the sync ("synchronizing folders") that dreaded "Windows Mobile Device Center Sync host has stopped working" reappeared.

    Any other ideas how to get the mobile device sync going again?

    Did you uninstall both Windows Mobile Device Center and Windows Mobile Device Center Update before reinstalling?

    What about ending and recreating the partnership?

    See here: "Windows Mobile Device Center Sync Host has stopped working"

    Also found this:

    OK here is the latest. I have solved my problem. After doing a backup on my PDA I did a hard reset. After it came back up, I connected and reestablished the partnership and it worked. My conclusion is that something in the latest update (Vista SP2) caused the error to crop up and it would not recognize the PDA any longer... no matter I did on my computer. So... The hard reset and I'm back in business.

    Windows Mobile Device Center

    Hello to all,
    This is not related to any of the previous post. This is a new 1. If anyone can offer some suggestions to may issue will be very appreciated. I am unable to install Windows Mobile Device Center for my computer. I went from XP to windows 7. My Sprint HTC TP 2 was able to use Active Sync through XP; so now my computer will not recognize WMDC when I installed. I notice after I did a restart on my comp it was now located in the start menu but it still will not connect. The message that I get is "Windows Mobile Device Center could not be installed because at least one required Windows component is missing"... What do I need to do, went to different several sites with post that did not quite help me.
    Thank you,

    I solved the problem in a different way: I did away with Windows Mobile and bought myself an Android phone. Finally a decent OS and - finally - a browsing experience that deserves the name! :) And no more need to fiddle with Windows Mobile Device Center and similar non- or half-functioning bits and pieces any more! It felt like opening a window (sic!) into a different, brighter world!

    Kick Windows Mobile good-bye! And after my years of torture using WM I never even considered to look into Windows Mobile 7! If a company oversleeps a development for so long, they are better left asleep!

    Hey mmo, theres nothing wrong with windows mobile phones some programs run some can give you trouble. I have had several windows phone and did not have a lot of issues, but I will say this; if they ever stop manufacturing windows phones I will join my fellow Droid users like yourself before I EVER JOIN THE iPHONE user club (fakers who think the phone world revolves around Apple).
