Try doing a BIOS reset using the jumper on the motherboard and the CMOS battery. Prayers might be in order.

Some motherboard makers incorporate a flash recovery-config jumper or boot block recovery jumper on their motherboards. This can often be used to recover from a bad or failed flash. On most machines a small segment of the flash ROM does not get overwritten when you perform a normal flash update. This small portion of code contains a basic boot block which can enable the machine to reload another BIOS from floppy disk.
If you have a laptop or desktop without a floppy. You can either fit a floppy in the conventional manner or in some cases a USB floppy or CD-ROM can be used.

This thread is a great example of BIOS updates gone wrong.

BIOS updates are (as an unwritten rule) NOT done as an update, but only when something is wrong.

Hope that you can get it fixed though.

If you have a floppy drive in another computer format it to be bootable then put all of the file from the bios zip on it. Also make another disk and put on a older version on it. Google how to flash from a bootable floppy. After that remove the floppy drive and cable from the other computer and just temp install on the one with the f up bios. Then boot from the floppy. I am not sure why this went wrong. As long as you had the right computer model and MB this should have gone fine. I have never had a bad bios flash in my 10+ years of IT work. You did everything right from what I can tell.

If it worked before it ought to work now. You might need to reinstall Windows (might, but I'd try it first), and might have to do the robocall thing with Microsoft for (re)Activation.

The BIOS is located on a chip on the motherboard. Getting in your old car does not magically suck the dents out of the new one that just got wrecked.

Judging by some of your comments, I think you might be a little uncertain as to what the BIOS is and what it can do for you. Back in the early days of computing you used to have to boot from a floppy disk every time you wanted to start the computer and then type in commands to get the main operating system running. Some smart person got the idea of taking the info on the boot disk and putting it on a chip so you didn't have to fiddle with the boot disk every time. The BIOS is basically a miniature operating system on a chip.

It's not much of an operating system, though. While it is very important, which you just found out the hard way, what it does is very simple and limited. It does a quick memory check, looks to see what hardware is available and what that hardware is capable of, and allows some basic control over the hardware settings. It passes that information along to the main operating system and then gets out of the way. Unless you have something that is not working right solely because of a problem in the BIOS you are better off leaving it alone.

We've probably all had a bad flash happen. Here's hoping your luck is better down the road. :D

PC BIOS reprogramming, replacement, recovery

Following fron the excellent info you have received from profdlp youcould always buy a new bios chip pre-programmed with the latest bios version for very little money here is a link to a UK seller bios-repair.co.uk | Preflashed Asus BIOS Chips, Asus BIOS Reference but if you do an internet search you could find one closer to home :)
