Creaky Floors And Creepy Neighbors

I use an industrial version of Febreze called odoball + the handy plugin fresheners. Today I sprayed the air vents,intake, and floors. and When my room mate got back he stopped in the door and was like were did the smoke smell go

Makes me glad I live in a bungalow.

Before moving here, I started to move into a complex of one story duplexes, which would only have one neighbor to contend with. I would have done so, but the apt. manager and I seemed to rub each other the wrong way.

Have you tried to start banging back, or making more movement when they start banging on the walls?

Oh, I thought about it, but I didn't feel that would solve anything. Probably make it worse.

When you bang back and they complain. Just reply you thought they were saying hello, and you didnt want to be rude.

Odoball? I just Googled that, and all that I found was some kind of outdoor spray for pets and pests.

Oh, I thought about it, but I didn't feel that would solve anything. Probably make it worse.

When you bang back and they complain. Just reply you thought they were saying hello, and you didnt want to be rude.

I've never had a talent for "tact".

It was a very interesting purchase that day.
I was out of bleach, garbage bags, I managed to cut my kitchen gloves, and I was tired of the smoke smell in my car. I shop at a whole sell store cause I feed 2-5 people depending how many of my room mates are home. So I had a very suspicious looking purchase last when I bought all those things together all it was missing was the hacksaw and shovel XD.

Have you actually compared this with Febreze, as far as effectiveness. Febreze is cheaper, so oDoBan would only be worth it if it lasted a lot longer.

I paid 10 bucks for a 1 gallon bottle that makes ~32 gallons of this stuff. Around here Febreze costs about 3 dollars for a small bottle and up to five for the larger sizes. It seems to do a good job and smells better than Febreze to me

I have such a bad sense of smell, that isn't much of a factor, unless it was something that others would notice. I'm sure that there are cheaper places to buy it, but I checked on Amazon, and they wanted $15.39-$22.71, which doesn't include shipping. I don't recall seeing it in a local store, but then I was never looking for it either.

They dropped Febreze at my local sams club and tarted to carry it. So far I havent had a complaint with it.

To cure the problem my landlord removed parts of my ceiling and installed braces along the rafters. In addition their was a thin ( about one quarter inch thick ) layer of concrete under the upstairs carpet, The concrete had become cracked over the years.

They pulled up the ( Upstairs ) carpet and poured new concrete. This made a considerable difference but did not eliminate the problem completely. Some years later I moved to a upstairs apartment.

Their may not be cement under your carpet but some bracing of the second story floor from underneath
may be worthwhile. Talk to your landlord.

There is no concrete here, but I like the idea of fixing the problem below, instead of here. Let the neighbor contend with the mess and bother. But I suspect that maintenance would rather lift my carpet, than remove their ceiling.

I don't shop at Sam Club, but I just checked the WalMart website, and the search didn't find anything for it. Yet, when I Googled elsewhere, one person said that they had found it in the Glass Cleaner section. Of course, that doesn't sound like an odor eliminator like we are talking about, but I will check anyway.

EDIT: How often do you have to spray for it to remain effective?

For the most part, noise doesn't bother me...except when the main fire alarm goes off, because someone burnt their toast. I can't say that the management doesn't give a hoot, because they usually take care of most things, but I really don't like having them inside the apartment, any more than necessary. I'm a bit of a recluse, and enjoy my privacy.

If management is willing to help you and the neighbors are at least somewhat reasonable, you have a chance. Being a bit of a recluse makes it a little more complicated. (I'm the same way to some extent.) If you can overcome that long enough to get to know the people bugging you and let them get to know you it would help. It's easier to get angry with a stranger than it is with an acquaintance.

To an extent, you are right, but I do know the neighbors on each side of me...at least on a first name basis. Actually, one is fairly friendly (in person), but she is the one that banged on the wall about the carpet cleaner. Less than 5 seconds of moderate noise is no reason to bang on a wall.

No, the more that I get to know my neighbors, the more of a recluse I become.
