Resource image number for light blue selection bar

Can someone tell me which image resource I need to edit to change the Windows 7 menu selection bar that is so light? I have exported 599 images and I cannot isolate the correct one.

If you are using the default aero theme look at image # 991 It will look like (screenshot) 2 images top 1 is Hot 2nd is Pressed.
If it's at custom theme post a link to it & I will look at it

Well I got the image modified and thought I could import it using XN Resource Editor, but it will not replace the existing file - how can this done? Thanks...

You cannot edit it while you are using it
Make sure you are using Windows Classic Theme, log off & log on edit it then try it.

I changed to Classic and logged off, but the image shows up in binary not the graphic inside the editor. I am trying to edit the msstyle image....

I used IconFX to make the changes and save as 991.png. It will import as a separate resource, but it will not replace 991.

Edit: Another funny thing is that ResHacker will not allow me to view the .msstyle file. It says it is open, but I don't see it...

I have never seen IconFX used to edit the aero.msstyle
I use Ave's Windows7 Style Builder
Then there is Restorator - Bome Software - Restorator - the resource editor for customization, localization, and translation.

Jerry, I downloaded Anolis and tried to "Replace" 991, but for some reason it deleted almost the entire msstyle - luckly I had saved a copy. What did I miss?????

I just tried it and it failed for me to & try resource hacker it failed to try restorator 2007 it has a 30 day trial. Let me know if you get it.

I finally got things working by changing the filename, but Windows will not use the file after changes are - may be that the signature gets changed. I will restorator later. Thanks to all for the help.

I do not have a list. With Windows Style Builder I can see the numbers. If you need more I will help.

Thanks Jerry, I will keep any requests to a minimum.

BTW: I uses Anolis and made the change to the menu bar selector and it worked. I tried a second time to change the same image and it will not. I will update you on what happens. Roger

Jerry, I don't what the issue is, but I made the 1 edit to .msstyle and Anolis refuses to make any more. I can "Load" the new .png, but it never loads into "Pending Actions" nor is the existing image changed. I ran through the hard drive and registry and it did not help the problem. Bummer...

I have never got Anolis to change images you may need to look for a resource editor that will.
