Might want to check the settings or run memtest86+.

Cheap RAM

Your x58 board and RAM should be in the +20k range.

Might want to check the settings or run memtest86+.

Good advice, however the RAM was free. This is a Dell (not my choice). At the time my sister ordered it, they screwed up and filled it with 12 gigs of ram. Unfortunately, it's their usual Elpida PC3-8500(F) @ 533mhz... As it's impossible to adjust timings with the Dell bios/mobo, I guess I'll have to settle for the score as is.

Attached is the screenshot of the timings. Could slow cheap ram be the reason my x58/950 is only showing ~15,000MB/s on the ram test?

I highly doubt it.. I bought the cheapest memory sold at the store (kingston) and it wasnt any overclocking memory, still 400mhz ddr2 running at 450mhz with no problem.

Comparing to other users results mine are double the bandwidth, am I doing something wrong with the test or comparing wrong results?

New higher quality RAM should raise the performance but, only a little since you can't adjust any settings with OEM BIOS.
I would just leave it as is, the performance is what it is designed to be.

Good suggestion. My sister is happy with the performance and actually only scratches the surface of the capabilities of the i7-950 coupled with 12 gigs of ram, and that's what matters. :)

jcgriff2,
For the system specs, DDR2, those numbers are good.

Intel Core2 Duo P7350 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs) 185°F
I would definitely be concerned with the CPU at 185°F (85°C).

Max temp CPU core should be around 149°F (65°C) or less.

Average running temp should be below 122°F (50°C).

My 'similar' laptop runs at 112°F (45°C).

Check that it has good airflow from the bottom.
Open it up and see if there is a lot of dust in there, and that the fans are working.

Yeah I agree with Dave , seems bang on for DDR2 , I used to get around 6000MB/s
on my slightly overclocked DDR2 800 ram.

Oh and I couldnt resist a cheeky overclock on my new ram , check out the score now lol.
