What Games Are You Playing?

Playing some Dirt 3 myself at the moment. Loving it so far and it's just as good as the second one. Actually it's a bit more professional than Dirt 2 due to only getting the silly "Hey dude!" talk when in Gymkhana. The rest of the time it's pretty well laid back voice overs that glide you in to the action, while of course reassuring you along the way.

Paired with a Xbox 360 wired controller and i happen to have access to my 42" LCD HDTV sat at the side of me has a second screen to play on while we wait for the living room to be re-carpeted. It's all good! ;)
I've looked forward to Dirt 3 for some time but when I found out the US was one of those not getting a retail DVD I decided to wait and see where I might get an English version. Did you download or find it on DVD?

OK Guys i have a question... there are lots of games coming out and the problem is that my PC specs are not good enough to handle any new games with decent performance. You can see my system specs below :) i want to know if i change my GeForce 9600GT and get something better like GeForce GTS 450 or something similar or even better in performance in same price so will it be a good decision? Coz in my country i cant seem to find a Quad Core processor anywhere even in Used and i dont have enough budget right now to upgrade to Core i5 etc. I wanna play The Witcher 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crysis 2, Fable III, Dirt 3, HomeFront, Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Hydrophobia Prophecy and some others before December :) Please advise.

Well:

Just Cause 2 runs well on most setups. its pretty well optimized. You may not be able to totally MAX out all the visuals, but it should be playable and look good.

Witcher 2 is pretty demanding, graphically. Im honestly not sure how well the game would run on your setup, but It certainly would not be playable at higher settings. You may be able to get by at lower settings.
Im not entirely sure here TBH, I already had my GTX570 when I started playing this one.
Perhaps others may chime in in with some more specifics, but Im thinking Witcher 2 may be problematic for you.

Hydrophobia:
This game would probably be fine. Just need to turn down shadows and maybe particle effects.
(I believe this to be more of the game needing some otimizations) The gameplay was a little bit laggy in a couple areas but overall it ran well.

Very Good game, especially considering the price. Although a bit short.
If you are the type that hates games with water levels and swimming, probably not the game for you. Theres a LOT of it. Not that its a bad thing :)

I can not comment on the others you listed.

Although not on your list, another little Indie game Id like to mention is
Amnesia the Dark Decent.
If you like horror games its a good one :) Truly a survival horror.

for all those thinking about getting homefront, then i now recommend thinking twice and saving your money.

my first impressions were that it was a good fun game, singlepayer campaign was shortish but enjoyable, but after playing multiplayer for a while, serious problems soon became apparent, such as a severe lack of any teamplay (it has squads, but no-one can figure what they are for - you can't spawn on squadmates, nor can you voip with them).

yesterday it got patched, which only seems to have introduced more problems, such as screwing up the server browser (i can only see dozens of empty ones, and all my favourites have disappeared - you now have to hunt down the ip addresses to join).

in short, the game seems to be a camp-fest, greatly favouring hiding out on a rock and sniping. if you want to help your team by capturing objectives, then you are greatly outnumbered and are at the mercy of campers, whose weapons have been buffed and are now mainly one-shot kills. once they've got a few kills under their belts, they can buy an airstike, which rains serious death from above, earning them more points to buy the next airstrike.

oh, i forgot to mention the hackers and spawnkillers!

the game has been slowly dieing with so many empty servers, and the eagerly awaited patch seems to have killed it off completely.

r.i.p. homefront. :(

but don't just take my word for it - if you're thinking of buying it, check out the forum and see what others are saying. there's also a serious lack of input from developers on the forum too.

bring on bf3!

Did you get through that last level - beat the game? How was it for you?

It kicked my butt a few times, then when I finally beat it..... crash to desktop - do not get achievements, do not pass credits, do no get unlocked time trails.... play it over again, and take this lag with it

BTW here's a thread on the issue I posted about SARA - How to arrive Mila? - Steam Users' Forums

Anyways I had really bad performance in that area and posted about it here - UPDATE - DARKNET DEV FEEDBACK - Page 3 - Steam Users' Forums but got no feedback so....

There's also a patch that was supposed to fix the SARA issue but I'm not sure Steam updated the game. Anyways I uninstalled the game and will reinstall another time in hopes that the performance improves.

And I got my achievement for finishing the game, and credits as well :(

But, performance was down a bit in the last few rooms. A bit choppy.

Well I'm re-downloading the game right now to see if performance will improve, that last area was nearly unplayable for me. Updating my graphics drivers, lowering video settings made no difference.

I'm confused as it seems I’m the only one who complained about bad performance in that area. It also crashed there a few times as well

We'll see what the re-download does.

I didnt get any crashes ... but
Those last few rooms were a bit laggy I guess you could say. For lack of a better term. (Actually a large portion of Act 3)
For me, any room that had lots of water and the electrical effects was when I would notice it, in all Acts.
It wasn't unplayable though .. Just a bit rough in spots.

I put particle effect at Med, and left the rest on High though. Maybe reducing Shadows would have helped a bit.

Spoiler material....... OK, so after beating SARA...... I get the cutscene of Mila getting fried, I get the cure, take the cure...... things go white...... back to fighting SARA again...... no credits rolling, no unlocked Challenge room. In fact when I try to go there I get "Please finish main story mode"

Other then that BS the game ran butter smooth after reinstalling. Anyway I'm done with it, knowing I beat it is good enough for now.

Nice game though.

That is a bit odd. Im curious what would be causing it to loop at that point.

But, you didn't miss anything. I seen everything you did, except Mine went straight to credits rather than back to SARAH again..

Im not even sure what to suggest, other than maybe verify the Game cach .. but a re-download should have been suffecient.

I'd keep posting on the STEAM forum, and the Devs should answer , or so it seems from browsing thier forum.
Im going to post about performance issues I faced as well.

While some of these issues are disappointing, you gotta give that team a bit of credit. You dont see Devs that active on a games forum often.

Hopefully they get all of this sorted out before long.
It is a really good, albiet short, game.

Well I don't know what the hell is going on either but I posted the issue here - Steam Users' Forums - View Single Post - SUPPORT - POST ISSUES HERE. Not holding my breath for any quick solutions though.

Anyway it appears the game is crashing just before the credits roll, thus not allowing the game to complete. Have a few crash files in the game's directory folder, including one for the last CTD I got when I beat the game yet again.

I'll send those to tech support and see what they say.

Other than that I'm done with the game as I usually don't do time trials or stuff like that so I'm not missing anything.

Anyways thanks for letting me know I didn't miss anything at the ending.

BTW.....

I've looked forward to Dirt 3 for some time but when I found out the US was one of those not getting a retail DVD I decided to wait and see where I might get an English version. Did you download or find it on DVD?

Sorry for the late reply. I got it via Steam. But i know Coolshop.co.uk are doing it as disk version. There are a couple of other retailers selling it also on disk. It's just a matter of finding them.

ATM Im playing through Tomb Raider Underworld again. Its been a long time since I played it, and Ive always enjoyed the TR games.

Im actually considering playing through New Vegas again. I have Dead Money but not Honest hearts yet.

Lemme know if its even worth getting Sygnus, please.

I have so many games I want to play through..
I get started on 1 with intentions of finishing it, then get distracted starting another one. LOL

Oh .. and i finally got the last DLC for MAss Effect 2 I needed as well .. Overlord.
I have everything else (even the Alt. Appearnace packs) so its complete now. So theres something else to play ....

Well, given the fact that my PC doesn't have the greatest specs in terms of performance (1.6 Ghz Intel Celeron dual core processor and an ATI Radeon X1650 series video card, I tend to play more classic games, like I just finished up Starcraft: Brood War, and I play Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst (It's on a private server so i can't say more) when I want a little MMO time. These games may be ancient in terms of specs required to run them, and the fact that sequels are or already have come out for them but I still enjoy them.

Let's just start by saying this computer is a bit of a hodge-podge machine. Hardly any of its parts are standard these days, ever since i got it I've tweaked and tuned it into something that while its not as powerful as other computers it will certainly catch your attention and is rather memorable, hopefully not for the wrong reasons.
