Most on medium, some on low. My 6870/965 plays on High, minus AA, SSAO, Ubersampling, and Vsync (disable these regardless of settings). Make sure you have the latest Catalyst hotfix.

Thanks for the tips. I installed the 11.5b hotfix. From what I understand most games still don't utilize more than two processor cores, so I can put off upgrading the E8500 for at least the near future. Depending on how well the 4890 performs in TW2 and DA2, and perhaps TES5:Skyrim I may consider upgrading to a 6950 and flashing it to 6970. Most cards have been successful but I know it's taking a chance. I'd definitely go with the 2GB version.

Games need a quad now - its what the Witcher 2 recommends - and most recent others can make some use of it. I don't think you'll find any models that can be flashed right now, but I'd go for a 6870 to save cash @ 1080p, and a 6970 if you can afford it.

2GB of VRAM is nice, but keep in mind it really will not benefit you much if you only use a single monitor @ 19290x1200 or lower resolution.
At least not current, or in the very near future.

Multiple Monitors @ much higher resolutions it can be of benefit though.

There are quite a few games that will use a Quad these days. Mostly RTS games, but there are a few others like Witcher 2 that will take advantage of it.

Not excatly sure how much performance improvement the Quad actually gives over a dual core, but ..

I have a GTX 570SC with Q9650 @ 3.6
If I set the game to Ultra Settings w/Vsync ON, and disable Ubersampling, it has no issues.

New patch has helped some to however.
Overall it does hold 60FPS, but on occasions in a busy area Ive seen it drop briefly to around 50. Still good IMHO.

Well on my system I an running a resolution of I think 1280x960 on a 21 inch flat screen that is native 1600x1050
It still looks great and runs pretty perfect. not getting many CTD's anymore.
Been messing around so much that I am starting act2 at level 26.

Just installed 275.33's and will have to wait to test it out.

I would have to look again, but Patch 1.2 is out, have not tested anything yet and will look again at the res I decide to use again to make sure that is correct.

No, I did not notice any jaggies, it appears to scale really well.

I know my 965 + 6870 has the grunt to run the game @ 1080p with the High preset, including SSAO, only disable AA, Ubersampling and Vsync. Strange bits in Patch 1.2:

"Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced." - ???

"The Witcher 1 saves are now imported correctly." - Now you tell me? So was it imported correctly in the first place?

"A number of fixes have been made in blocking functionality during combat. Also, player character responsiveness in combat has been improved, and Geralt can attack more than one target during normal combat." - Took you a while . . . .

Not sure about the other 2 you've mentioned, but this seriously needed improvements IMHO.

I'd say the import worked fine. Background dialogue indicates my decisions from the Witcher 1 were recognized. Shame there is nothing about further engine optimizations. And where is the drinking? That is ridiculous. A bartender sells potatoes and fish heads but no vodka?

yeah, you should be able to trade items with trolls for vodka.
Make Trolls lushes in the game. That would have been funny.

The troll you meet in the DLC is drunk. He meets you with "No vodka, no pass" or something along those lines. The question is, do you help him? But really, brothels in, liquor out? Coming from a Polish team?

That's what I mean, you should be able to trade him vodka for passage and items.
Or help him out and trade with him other stuff or kill him eventually.

I helped him out, then killed him, to put him out of his misery, which I figured he was still in cause he had his wifes head to stare at, which had no tounge so couldn't be used for anything else, eh hem. He was going to start drinking again anyway, once a lush always a lush, hehehehe.

In TW3, they should have his brother come after you for killing him.

or if you don't, he just gives you free passage to a new area. Just something to think about.

I helped him out, killed the murdered, and he said he's off the vodka. We'll probably see in Witcher 3, but I doubt it as the Witcher 1 saves didn't have much effect. Yes, your decisions were mentioned and you got a bit of gold, knowledge and a weapon. So far the game impact is minimal. Anyone who finished this in 20 hours is lying though, I only completed Chapter 1 in 15hrs.

Have been playing WA2 for a few hours and have encountered some glitches..

anyone else having trouble looting bookshelves in the town where you have to find a way into the monastery? I use the amulet and they glow but when i point at them I am unable to loot most of them :(

Also during combat the parry function doesnt always work when you tell it to while you have enough vigor to do so. Im not sure what patch I am using but its a retail verison from newegg that has a self updater that it used during installation.

Very beautiful game though I really enjoy the well developed personality of the npcs. Almost makes me want to stop playing now and go through witcher 1 first since I never did.

If you didn't play 1, you need to. Otherwise nothing makes any sense and a lot of the atmosphere and finesse will be lost as you play through. To get into the monastery you don't loot bookshelves but need to go through a cellar/sewer. To parry you need Vigor which you can enhance with potions and/or leveling up talents in the swordmaster branch and possibly enhancing your armor. No vigor, and your attacks weaken so remember to use potions and bombs. The AI is pretty weak so you can occasionally circle around and whack them in the back.

I didn't have any trouble finding the monastery I was just wondering if others were encountering the glitch with looting the bookshelves and parry responsiveness.

I will have to consider going through the first one if it will help me appreciate WA2 more, it definitely deserves it.

The parry responsive was fixed in Patch 1.2. No issues with looting here. Note No 1 is unstable. It crashed 5 or 6 times but it was worth playing. If you do play it, restart No 2 and import the save.
