Typing lag in any browser IE9, Chrome or FF

We have been experiencing this behavior for some time. It happens at least once a day but only in the above mentioned browsers. All other applications like MS Office 2007 and Notepad and Wordpad work just fine. I followed someone else post who was experiencing the same issue and disabled the 10/100/1000 Local Network Connection since we mostly use the wireless connection to connect to our wireless router. But the issue still continues.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to where to look in order to resolve this problem ?

It could be plugins/addons in the browsers... I'd have a look through each browser's enabled add-ins. If there's one they all have, it could be that.

Thanks for the reply. We have tried IE9 without any addons. The issue still persist. Same thing I checked Chrome with the following command chrome://extensions and it showed no extensions installed. Both IE9 without addons and Chrome without any extensions still have the same typing lag. Even while I am typing this message in Chrome I am having the typing lag. Same when I just now switched over to IE9 without Addons I am getting the lag. Firefox has addons installed or I should say plugins installed but I did not try by disbabling all plugins.

Thanks again

Victor

Thanks for the reply. I don't believe by adding more memory will resolve the issue since we have 6GB of RAM installed and usually have over 4GB of free or available RAM at any given time. Other applications don't experience the same typing lap as much as the browsers do.

Were using Norton Security Suite 5.0.2.29 I believe.

Any other ideas.

Thanks

Does this have any sort of 'online protection' mode? It could be 'monitoring' what you type to make sure you don't dish out any credit card numbers, etc., in the wrong places, I guess...

Thanks for the help. I believe that Norton does have "online protection mode" which protects all sensitive data stored on the computer. The thing is that is sluggishness starts at random and is never predictable. At first we have noticed that Norton will start running from Process Monitor and then when it stops the pages are still sluggish and slow in typing.

Yea I kind of thought it might something like that but the good ones are hard to detect with just merely typing. Norton does have some online privacy protection to protect sensitive data on the hard drive. Appreciate the feedback.

I should the following information to this thread. Whenever we watch a streaming movie from Netflix the video becomes choppy however placing our old trusty IBM Thinkpad side by side watching the same movie the movie on the Thinkpad continues to work like a charm. So in my humble opinion its not the connection either cable modem or wireless router which is how both computers connect to the internet. When the movie is stopped on the HP Notebook by just closing the window and starting another instance of the browser the sluggishness continues and stays for a while. It sometimes is cleared by just rebooting the system.

Thanks to all replies.

Download & run CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download to clean out any junk on your PC
Using CCleaner under tools> startup disable all apart from programs that you need to run all the time.
Right click the taskbar & start Taskmanager get to know what processes you have running check the properties of any that you are unsure about & if there are no properties use Google.
Leave the taskmanager running & next time you have the problem check processes to see if it is the browser that is making your system slow or some other culprit.
Install a portable browser try Opera Web Browser | Faster & safer | Download the new Internet browsers free
run the download & choose options then change the install path to your Desktop & make a new folder & under
install-for choose USB standalone.
My guess is the portable version will run OK.

another update. We contacted Norton's Technical Support and they walked us in running Norton Eraser Tool which does in depth scan of the files. All went and even once Norton was uninstalled the lag was their when using desktop and any non internet related applications. I am convinced now that its not Norton that might have been causing the issue. So for now everything is working just fine on the computer. I will try streaming video once again to see if the issue resurfaces.

Thanks to all

Victor

I don't know if I indicated this above but the video playback is smooth as silk under Safemode with Networking but we don't get audio since the service is stopped and cannot be started under Safemode.
