It works on the Google (US) site.

For those using local/regional Google pages, it will take time for this to be available since different regional divisions (offices) manage it, and not the main company.

Thanks for the link. I have used Scroogle Scraper in the past but forgot the name. Google is a search engine that gives good results but its an information hungry giant. Their privacy policies changes without notice or publication.

We are living in a world where knowledge is a means to wealth. The incentive for search engines such as Google to gather information about its users is that they can easily sell that information to others. Google now owns YouTube. Why do you think they bought it? Millions of people use YouTube and Google is gathering information about those users as well.

Not only Google but financial organizations of which PayPal is a classic example. Can you buy anything on eBay without using PayPal? eBay bought PayPal for $1.5 billion. Why? Was it just to acquire the 'gorilla' of online payments or did they also consider that by doing so they acquired the financial records of millions of eBay users as well as those of eBay's competitors?

If this sounds too conspiratorial than turn a deaf ear but consider this, the rise of identity thefts is rampantly increasing and these info-giants are a perfect target for such thieves.

No matter what you do the ip address is the basis of every computer address on the Internet, all of the other addresses like Yahoo! or Google are just extra, as all of you web address are bound to the IP by using a DNS query. All of the Ip adress on the internet are public and anyone can find one out, just use cmd and type in ping google.com, the ip aderess shows up, basically anything on the Interent has their Ip adress displayed whether you like it or not.

Anonymous proxy services aside, there's no way to block the web server from seeing your IP. Otherwise they couldn't send you the pages. What I don't like are signatures that have a graphic on a 3rd party site. For you to see the graphic in your browser, it has to fetch it from the 3rd party site that has the image file. Therefore that server can get your IP. I'm sure everyone has seen those signature graphics on a forum that says something about "Your IP is xxxx and I'm gonna' get you!" or some such twaddle.

Well, if that guy with the sig controls the server that serves up the graphic, he can get your IP address. That's why many email clients like Thunderbird block images. If they didn't as soon as you open your mail the image is fetched from who knows where and they have your IP.

You know that your IP is very easy for anyone, anywebsite to see or know.. always has been..why're you acting like this Google feature has changed anything?

I suppose it's a cool function but finding your IP was never difficult anyway.
