Getting BSOD loginning into widows 7 x64, and more

Sorry this is long, but I wanted to tell the whole story, maybe it will help:


Ok, first start to say i did read the notes on how to post the bsod here, I cant do everything, that you wanted anymore, but ill try to do my best. the attached files that are below should give you alot of info, there are the dmp, who crashed txt & rtf , and etc file(s). I give a little back story this may help also, the windows 7 install was from a backup using easus todo backup from a failing hard drive that was making click of death sounds and bsoding, luckily I was able to make a backup before another bsod, now on the working drive, which was running in great shape in another system for years, so I now that hard drive is fine, which also no to long ago spinrite in maintenance mode was run on it. So now on to the bsod issues, about two days ago I turn on my monitor , (pc was already in idle mode for a few days of past) to fine a bsod, so i that would of been from the 5/25 iam guessing which does show the bsod from that date on the whocrashed txt & or rtf file.

so I restarted the pc i get to the login screen, then login screen goes blank and I get bsod, so then I go in safe mode (bare) it logins in fine, so i restart and go back into normal mode , login same thing I get a bsod, So then go back into safe mode w/networking and look at the info for top listed bcode 1a I thing it was, and I get results about the memory and memtest86+ and see the error screen shot part in red, just as im about to scroll down, I get another bsod, so (forgot to mention Im dual booting windows 7 x64 ultimate and windows xp pro sp3 which was installed first, the os's are installed on separate hard drives) so i boot into windows xp, login with no problem run a firefox, which this is how im writing this post now, so i run memtest386+ 4.20 from hirens boot disc, and i get the red errors right away, the error climb to the hundreds of thousands!! So i must have bad memory?? But ok my question now is, then why doesnt windows xp crash and give me a bsod?? I was thinking and remembered maybe because there is some gigabtye only ultis running in win7 like easytune 6 a overclocker app, ok, so since i cant run it in safe mode to default it or I go into the bsod and set the default setting back, but I still get those bsods when trying to login,


Also I did run the windows memory test tool on the windows repair disc, set at extended mode, I was at 1 of 2 at 10% overall showing no errors, it was late so i went to bed, checked it in the morning was at the windows 7 login screen, but I cant check the results because when I logged in I got a bsod again, if you can tell me where the file is for the results, if needed that'd help, thanks. So later today while trying to get things going in windows 7 (safe mode /w networking) I couldnt access the network anymore, or internet it. showed that the network was disabled in the system tray , what could that mean, since it was fine the day before, and works in windows xp, right now?? This is a system I built i attached the hardware info. Thanks looking forward to help!

Hello Williams and welcome to Sevenforums.

First I want to be clear on some things, let's start off by some conclusions-

• Your Windows 7 crash, but your XP doesn't? y/n
• You get errors with Memtest86+ yes? Have you tried to test every stick and slot individually? Be sure to read your warranty information before moving those.
• The fact that Windows 7 is crashing, might be the software you mentioned. Especially the overclocking software.

Are you able to get all the files for the requirements on the Posting Instruction page? You seemed to have wrong files in the zip. Also a .nfo would be appreciated.

To get this: Start Menu -> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box -> When it opens, go to File, Save -> Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember -> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info -> Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder -> Upload the .zip file here.

It sounds like your Windows 7 is all broken because of boosters and overclocking programs since your XP works.

Ubuntu
For a trial, try downloading a copy of Ubuntu and see if your system will crash.
By that, we'd have an idea if Windows 7's drivers and system is broken. You can try it out on a
flash drive if you so desire.
Go to Ubuntu.com | Download the image | See how to create a bootable flash drive
Leave it running for some time and report your results.

yes windows 7 crashes but xp dont, no i havent test the memory slots, because xp doesnt crash, the bios settings are back to default, no over clocking is on now. I will try to uninstall (easytune 6) in the safe mode. I have no booster program, whatever that is, or do you mean intel smart start using the sdd? I did mention what the files are from, do you need more help? i'd thought sisoft sandra would be better the, msinfo32 , but i can run msinfo32 can it be from windows xp? ill try the unbuntu for a few hours.

ok cant do usb, but ran cd of ubuntu, but as soon as it gets the load the desktop i get this:

I just thought as you had overclocking software, you might have a booster. A booster is a software that is supposed to make Windows 7 faster by deleting several of registry entries. Something we'd not recommend.

You haven't tested your memory? You can boot into Memtest86+ even though some of your OS' might crash. It's bootable.

Looking at your bugcheck it's likely that a memory corruption event was triggered. Though a driver could be causing the memory to be borked, but we're usually suggesting a memory test before moving forward. Do a scan with Memtest86+. Memtest is a scanner that'll check your sticks for errors.

:info: Note that the below instructions may break your WARRANTY rules. If you're unsure check manuals, separated warranty papers, stickers on computer for secure permission.

To ensure that we'll know if it's the slots on the motherboard that's broken, or the sticks itself - we have a little procedure we'll recommend. Remove 1 stick, scan the other with Memtest in the current slot. After 7 passes, move the stick to another slot and scan, and so on and so forth until you've scanned all the sticks, and all the slots, one by one.

Yes, I know about the booster crap software, and registry cleaners, I had issues in the past, i dont use them anymore. and Yes I did test memory

But what of the unbuntu screen shots I gave you? Also I tried to boot into ubc for windows, ( a WinPE boot disc) and just as it loaded to the desktop I got a bsod. i attached the msinfo32 file, I did go into safe mode and tried to uninstall easytune6 but got a windows installer fail, I was able to uninstall intel smart connect, I tried to uninstall intel rapid start (using a ssd to boost the hard drive performance) but got a bsod, I also disabled them in the bios, and could login windows 7 for a few seconds this time, but then got a bsod error about the ntfs.sys (irg_equal_greater) kind, Im gonna try to see about testing the hdd just in case.

Memory issues can be very periodic and strange. It might run towards different circumstances, for instance in Windows XP, and therefore not fail. You cannot really expect when your memory will run into a bad sector-pattern.

Alright, everything seems fine there.

But as you've had issues on Memtest86+, I'd borrow a pair of memory sticks of your friends, family and so on if you're able to.

Im the only computer user, so I cant borrow ram. but Ill try them in another slot on the board to see if they fail or not. BTW I cant test the hard drive using any hgt testing tool as they have no modern ones, that can detect the hard drive, I ran Active Boot Disk recovery it did say the ntfs status was poor, if that means anything.

Hmm.. what means something is the fact that Memtest86+ showed errors. Errors on Memtest86+ are pretty conclusive and stable.
If you're able to somehow beg your neighbours for a pair.

heh, I wish my neighbors or friends had pcs that I could swap items with. but I tested the sticks of ram sepratly and it looks like its one bad stick, one good stick, I cant now get back into windows 7 with the good stick, how ever my network/internet doesnt work and a few programs are not working, Im not sure why, would using bad memory do this?? I think I will just reinstall windows 7. and send the bad stick out to rma for a new one. what do you think?

• Memtest86+ will give errors at times, and sometimes not.
• The "good stick" might be bad.
• If you have warranty on your sticks, RMA them right away.

they did come in a set, package so probably have to rma both, first hard drive now memory, I hope nothing else goes bad, "knock on wood" Not my first build but, been awhile since things failed like this.

Just come back here and upload your latest dump. Your sticks had errors and it's a good idea to switch them of course.
