Homemade Peanut Butter

I remember some peanut butter that I bought in a health food store some years ago, and thought about trying to make my own, because it was so much better than what is usually available in the stores.

I've only found two machines designed for home use that are available:

But both have a couple of minuses to consider. Also, I don't pay too much attention to the reviews on a website, because one doesn't know who really posted them.

This leaves me wondering if anyone here has actually used or owns either machine, or another...if in the same price range?

What about this one? Comes in attractive pink colour and has chunky & smooth button on it. Looks easy to use, all you do is put your nuts in it, and it does the rest.

Only a couple of problems with that one...I don't consider pink attractive, and since it is out of stock, it shows no price. However, I wasn't really asking for any links, except to machines that one has personal experience with. Still, your post adds a bit to perspective.

I always thought peanut butter was made by people chewing peanuts, getting it to the stage where it was just about ready to swallow, and then spitting it out into a jar for you to buy.

apparently you can make peanut butter in a food blender, this would be ideal as it has many applications .

I like peanut butter... Call me weird, but sometimes I just grab a spoon and start scooping chunks of peanut butter out.

I really eat a lot of PNut butter, I like it smothered on a English Muffin in the morning.

I can't stand Reeses pNut butter and Chocolate.

I do like chocolate but not the two together.

its years since ive had any. i also miss satay sauce for the same reason

a decent alternative is to heat some sunflower seeds in a skillet or heavy based frying pan with a little salt

There is nothing weird about a person choosing what they like or don't like, but I think that chocolate and peanut butter go together quite well. I think that the problem with Reeses is that they use sub-par peanut butter and that they sweeten it as well as the chocolate.

EDIT: Also, if you do have a sweet tooth, you might want to try putting a bit of apple butter atop that peanut butter and muffin, or drizzle a bit of molasses and see what you think. Caution...if you try the molasses, be careful to keep the muffin level, otherwise the molasses will run off.

i dont make satay sauce as it contains peanuts, when i had it in the past it was with a chinese take out. my eldest step daughter has nut allergies so we cant have nuts in the house. thats why i miss it and peanut butter, as i haven't really had them for almost 10 years.
she is also allergic to shellfish,peas ( they are of the same family as nuts!), bananas ,kiwi fruit and strawberries.
she has to carry an epi pen around because she may go into anaphylactic shock if she has a reaction to these things. just the fumes walking past the nut shelves in the supermarket can give her a reaction.
fortunately we have kept her safe all these years and she hasnt had to use her epi pen ,but she is about to go away to university and the risks will then be greater (but at least we can have peanut butter in the house again).

I know nothing about allergies...except that I have become allergic to my favorite food...eggs. My reaction is not nearly as serious as her's, I simply get a sneezing fit and runny nose. I would have thought that there must be some common element in the foods that she is allergic to, but with the variety that you listed, there must be multiple elements involved. I have heard of treating allergies to immunize a person, so that they could consume a problem food, without being effected, but I have no idea of how successful this is. Have you ever considered having her treated?

unfortunately she is in the severe category,
in fact to be classed a severe nut allergy sufferer, when they do a skin prick test the count needs to be in the hundreds.
our daughters count was in the thousands, so no treatment by exposure to nuts and building a tolerance, there are studies and research being done and perhaps in fifteen years they will have a cure, but we can only keep our fingers crossed.

most food products these days say whether they may contain nuts, ironically even peanut butter

I thought about the blender method, but I would imagine that is very noisy with peanuts flying about, and I imagine that it would be more difficult to obtain a consistent texture. However, I may give it a try, once I find and affordable source of peanuts.

I would Think Basic method would be Roasted Peanuts unshelled and unhulved and Blened with a bit of peanut oil that would give it texture although you would need something else added to preserve it for atleast 2 weeks of Storage

This is something I can ask my Father and Mother about they are from the South and know about making preseves and Jellys this is a good learning experience here

No, from what I've read, homemade peanut butter has nothing in it except peanuts, and that it lasts from 2-6 months in the refrigerator. I normally don't keep peanut butter in the refrigerator, because it becomes too thick to spread properly and it still lasts quite a while. I buy peanut butter in 4lb bottles and it lasts until empty without problems. Of course, common peanut butter from the store is not pure, but I see nothing in the ingredients that looks like a preservative. It is these extra ingredients that makes homemade peanut butter superior.

on this He told me roasting alone is preserving them nothing needs to be added


So I was right in what to add except preseves maybe a mix Almond Peanut Butter
with a little coconut oil hmm i like all those things never had them together but sounds like a good spread on some hot toast
