Unconfirmed speculation that one company is working n a Windows 8 chip that will not run Linux, and another cmpany is working on a chip that will not run Android. My predication? Fuggeddaboudit.

If Windows 9 can run Android and Linux, that will increase sales. What does MS care if you spend time on those systems, as long as you PAY for Windows?

Perhaps. But what about windows products? Wouldn't it be smarter to force users to purchase MS products (or products MS makes money off of)?

Is there a reason for MS NOT to block others' products?

I just installed Windows 8 Pro, and I'll predict one improvement that Windows 9 will have: gadgets. I can't believe Win 8 doesn't allow gadgets. Of course I installed a program that made it possible, and I am very happy with the gadgets I have.

And here's one of my predictions I'm backing away from. Windows 9 will NOT include a Start Button. The free e-book "Windows 8 for Dummies" explains how to use the Start Page (formerly called the Metro Interface) so that is far better than the Start Button was.

Folks, the ARM version of the Windows Surface tablet, which uses the RT edition of Windows 8, cannot run ordinary programs, It can only run specialloy-designed aps for its particular hardware. But it has sold so rapidly that it is out of stock. Why?

Its battery life lasts far longer, and it is really designed to be a touchscreen WORK tablet. I predict that since it is this successful, MS will have an RT versin of Windows 9 as well.

I've tried using Windows 8 in a shop, and it was so difficult to navigate (managed to get to the Start page eventually) and open a few applications like Word, but I didn't understand why the Start page and desktop are now two completely separate things from each other :huh:

Your running applications are moved into the corners of the screen, where you only realise if you touch one of corners that an application is running; it's such a confusing and difficult OS.

There really is a RUMOR, confirmed by ZDNet, that Windows 9 will be released one year after Windows 8. The speculation is that MS will put whatever updates, patches, and new programs into a new OS as rapidly as possible to get away from Windows 8.

"Windows Blue" and "Windows Infinity," as well as "Windows 9," are all likely names for the new OS.

Welcome aboard, Roaster. There seems to be a problem with sales of Windows 8. 75% of vendors interviewed said that 8 is outselling 7 at the same point in time, but online surveys say otherwise. If an upgrade only costs $40, why not have a new one every year?

If Windows 8 seems to be outselling Windows 7, and then it is probably due to consumers being given no option from OEMs but to buy Windows 8 (downgrading from Windows 8 means no OEM support), and the false concept of new must mean better; the cheap upgrade will attract consumers to this concept even more.

They should really come up with a Desktop-friendly OS instead of some kind of frankenstein half-baked abomination, bolted on interface which is neither a pleasant simple new experience nor a logical, intuitive extension of the old desktop experience. Don't get me wrong, Windows 8 is perfect on touch devices but it really doesn't feel right on the Desktop, not to mention those poorly designed fullscreen colorful Metro Apps that take up the whole screen on a large monitor.
