All right,
So I've been poking around the internet for a couple weeks trying to solve this issue and it seems like many people are having similar issues with sleep/hibernation resume in Windows 7, but I didn't find anything identical to my particular problem. Everything pretty much works fine with the computer except for a few minor issues (mouse key sticks a bit, sometimes presses when it shouldn't, etc.), but when I close the lid of the computer and it goes into sleep (or hibernation, if it's closed long enough) mode and then try to open it again later, the display will not turn on. The fan, lights, etc. on the computer still work and I can still type and what I type goes through. So the only problem is with the display. It will randomly work, and then not work other times. This problem has been with the computer since I bought it; I should have just returned it when I had the warranty but oh well. Tried installing and updating all drivers, they're fine. Tried poking around in advanced settings and no changes there have yielded positive results. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? My computer is a Lenovo S205. Many thanks,
Caleb*
P.S. because of the problem I've had to coldboot the computer many times.

Sleep issues are almost always caused by the display driver so I would start by updating it, or trying another. Driver Install - Device Manager

You can troubleshoot Sleep and Hibernate by setting them to 1 and 2 minutes in Power Options. Use Balanced Plan. Then work through these Sleep Mode Problems - Vista Forums.

If this is still the factory preinstalled WIn7 then that is a corrupt install which causes many of these problems, which is why most tech enthusiasts will not run it but choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware

If that doesn't help then work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

@fez - it is unfortunately too late to return :/

@greg, I'll try all those steps one by one. Many thanks mate.
