I never do more than 10-15 updates at a time anymore. I start at the bottom of the list and work myself up. Also, if there is an unchecked update, I leave it unchecked until all the other updates are taken care of. I learned the hard way the danger of trying to run too many updates at once.

I don't believe I've ever had any "unchecked". Why would it be in the list but unchecked?

Most likely because occasionally an update needs to be applied after the others are. It doesn't happen very often.

Finally starting too, pollen count got low today, due to the downpour of rain yesterday, so my sinuses do not feel like they want to explode...

Seems to be smooth,
I always Uncheck any Silverlight updates,
It's not a Important feature I care about/ if I load it I'll do it separately.
I Never do optional updates at the same time if at all/ research first.

Well mine was interesting.

30 updates.

Installed and it asked to reboot.
shutdown was normal, if a bit slow.
Reboot got to 32%, sat there for 20 min then rebooted itself
Second reboot got to 32%, sat there for a few minutes then rebooted itself.
Third reboot went through the normal update process apparently OK.

Got that one long shut down that failed...did a restore point and reinstalled one by one all the updates.

Seems it is the kb2888049 (recommended), I've hidden this particular update.

Btw lady, so far the only things that are giving me some relief, is musinex 1200 mg 2x a day and claridan 24 hr one, if you can get the brand Care One it is half the price and get natural Tea tree Oil and put a drop under your nose, it actually opens your sinuses. You can do that 3 to 4 x a day

After reading the Kb for a recommended update, then i choose if i do hide temporarily that one or not. This was the case for me as one failed.

Here's an Update to clean your PC's sinuses. After installing it and running Disk Clean up you'll see a new category, Windows Update Cleanup, which will remove/uninstall superseded and unneeded updates. After running Disc Cleanup a reboot is needed and on either the shut down or start screen will be an Update lock screen that says Cleaning...
I used it and it removed 410MB of junk.

Update is available that enables you to delete outdated Windows updates by using a new option in the Disk Cleanup wizard in Windows 7 SP1

Before going off half-cocked (as I do) read all the prerequisites and other info.

I removed 953Mb from mine, mostly all unneeded & old updates. This is interesting as I did a completely fresh reinstall at the end of July 13.
I have the Disk Clean up icon on my desktop & run it every now & then, but to get the old updates removed you have to right click & Run as Administrator. After the clean up a restart should be done as it finalises the clean up.

Ranger a new install will grab all updates including unneeded ones. Even more if the installer is not SP1.

Just got my 21 updates at 9:26Pm ET, installed no issues. I did 6, 8, then 7. IT irks me the Microsoft still thinks I need the Bing Desktop which I've hidden several times.

Go in System32/drivers or in your device manager and you'll see that all those USB drivers are refresh ones, so that's OK!

The were refreshed from Usb Files dated 2011 to 2013-09-03, some are left from 2009.

Could be due to Remote Code Execution & Elevation of Privilege on those Usb Files
