Prototype Explorer!

Bet the title caught your attention huh? =P Just doing some custom UI photoshop work messed around with the explorer, tell me what you think I may try to incorporate some different / new buttons etc!

personally i find that the borders are a bit wide for my taste. and i'd prefer a glowing blue over the red but overall good work. it'll be nice to see what new visual styles come out after windows 7 is released.

The dark red just doesn't seem like an appropriate color for windows seven... I don't like the desktop icon and the back/forward arrows. Try some more layer effects on them or decrease the opacity of the arrows themselves... if you still keep the .PSD which is...
Otherwise I like the idea of the big borders, kind of makes it look unusual and at the same time cool
Oh yeah, and the title DID get my attention a lot! I thought it was based on the Prototype PC Game...

Yeah might want to try the Professional blue tone. I like the back/forward buttons.

What font does Windows Explorer use? I'm trying to create some custom buttons, etc but I want it to match the rest of the explorer!

Version 2 is starting to go really near my taste, but I still think that Seven+Red ain't right. You might try all that on a black background so that it may look like a really cool, stylish&death sort of theme. If you do that it would rule. Still if you insist on the white background, try everything in a more... calm color, you know, something that relaxes the eyes. I like blue, like the blue in the Photoshop CS4 icon, the green is also a nice color, try lighter green like the MS Windows Orb.

Yes the red just doesnt work for windows 7. A nice glowing blue would look nice.. Otherwise it is cool.

where do you change the minimize and restore buttons in explorer? I dont see them in the restorator... i would like to get rid of the blue.

I believe thoes buttons are in there, im not home so i can't tell get back if it is in there.

Want criticism? No problem! Make the minimize and maximize buttons lighter blue, the blue you used sucks... Also make them thinner to get some elegance in there, you know, make it look cooler. I want one of the HDDs to be on very little memory left and to get our attention it will be glowing in red as a warning. The WMP integrated controls are a nice idea. What if we had a cute little button that will launch a wizard that searches out for any new media in a selected drive? I want it like so:

Added low space on F: Drive notification
Added USB Widget to display device + space remaining
slimmed down min / max buttons
slight color change in min/max buttons.

Not any i have in mind atm If you need a beta tester, then i'll happily do it :devil:
