In the woods by the creek.
Hello again. I am helping my sister with her Dell PC 530, one more time.
I downloaded a program called PIXLR AUTODESK for her to learn how to edit photos.
(Awesome and easy for beginners)
After downloading and starting up the program, PIXLR says the PC does not have OpenGL.
saying most modern PCs have this...and it is an easy fix. There were 2 links.
One was to Intel. So I went to Intel. I downloaded their driver checker tool and ran it.
The diagnosis was that the PC has outdated drivers.
It says it has 8.15.10.1930 and the latest version is 15.12.75.4.64.1930
Then I downloaded the zip with the new drivers. I have been reading about OpenGL.
The more I read, the more confused I am getting. Like information overload. :confused:
I am stuck here. I don't know if I have to install these drivers or not.
There are no issues with sluggishness. Just this one thing.
The history of this PC:
One year ago, it was bought from an elderly person. It had Vista.
They took it to an IT and had it cleaned up and wanted Windows 7 installed on it.
$150.00 worth of work. What happened?
There is a new sticker he placed on the PC stating that.
I would like to help her not mess her up more.
Thanks Elljay

You should have nothing else to do just Install the Driver ...

OpenGL* is an API (Application Programming Interface) for 3D graphics that is used by many games. OpenGL enables hardware acceleration of 3D graphics, so support is required from the graphics drivers for optimum performance. The latest graphics drivers will usually provide the best compatibility with games that use OpenGL. Graphics drivers that come with Microsoft Windows* or that are downloaded from Windows Update typically do not support OpenGL.

Thanks for the clarification Maxie.
We are not doing anything with games though.
We are trying to run a Photo editor called PIXLR AUTODESK.
Graphics are Graphics I suppose.

We are not gamers. We are croppers. :D

Thanks for the link Maxie.
This wasn't what I downloaded when I went there.
I downloaded a zip containing all the drivers.

So, I'm noticing it says Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver.
In the installed programs on her PC, there is a Icon that says this.
It also appears in the notification area.
(On one of my recent threads 'How do I kill a Trojan?'
I asked if this might be a fake because conduit is showing up in msconfig. and also one day when I went to help her, she had clicked one of those adchoice annoying things because it said her drivers need updating. So I explained what those annoying things were and to ignore them. Don't click them!
(I ran all sorts of malware removal programs on her PC and conduit is still in there.)

Anyways...should I just uninstall that 'program' that says Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver?

I can't until tomorrow. My brother-law is on that PC right now.
I ran the driver checker they have and it gave me link to the drivers to download the zip folder with all the drivers.
It was all the drivers. Like everything that one needs to do a clean install.

Hi Maxie. OK> There isn't a link back to Intel.
After running their Utility Tool and getting the diagnosis, there is just a link to download the latest version drivers.
So here are screen shots of what I did/have.

Sorry for the late response.The same Maxie. Just OpenGL. I have not done anything about it.
You wanted me to send you a link to what I downloaded. I can't -just screenshots of what I did/have.
There is no other issue with graphics. Just that. Do I install all these or just what you sent me?

The diagnosis was that the PC has outdated drivers.
It says it has 8.15.10.1930 and the latest version is 15.12.75.4.64.1930
~~~
Any sane person would conclude that you should update those drivers. Sadly, Intel is not run by sane people. Despite the utility's column headings of Installed version and Latest version, those two numbers are just different ways of identifying the same drivers. I've found that utility to be wrong many times.
The link that maxie posted will get you the exact same driver files that the utility downloaded.You can install them if you wish, but you probably already have those exact drivers installed.
Form the website that maxie linked to:
This driver is written specifically for the desktop Intel ® 945G, 945GZ, 945GC, 945GT, 946GZ, G965, Q963, Q965, G31, G33, G35, Q33, Q35, Express Chipsets and the Mobile Intel® 940GML, 943GML, 945GM, 945GME, 945GMS, GL960, GLE960, GM965, GME965 Express Chipsets and will not function with any other product. View the README file for installation information and the RELEASE NOTES for driver version details. This driver package contains version 15.12.75.4.1930 (8.15.10.1930) for Windows* 7.
