Pirate sites ban Windows 10 over privacy worries

Thanks for the link! This is why I was saying that, I've been checking for this kind of stuff and found them some time ago when they were released. Now I don't install any update until I thoroughly check it to see what's it about. The bad thing is that, like someone here on the forums was saying a while back, when you do a fresh install is a headache to keep track of what has to be install and what is basically, Macro-soft keyloggers.

But thanks for the unified list. Will start creating a text file with this stuff.

Here are a couple of other links. (I do have some of those updates still installed but the telemetry is what my main concern is.) I am still using 10 but not for banking or shopping.

Consider the following wording from MS's own new Services Agreement
automatically check your version of the software and download software updates ... including those that prevent you from ... playing counterfeit games...

Paranoid is defined as an "unreasonable fear" -- but when that fear is based upon wording found in MS's own documents, it's not "unreasonable" anymore.

Or you know, try not downloading pirated/illegal stuff in the first place. Anyone defending downloading illegal content just makes the argument hilarious.

Also, a lot of pirated content leads to malware. Which of course Microsoft does not want. Malware does not just effect the person who is infected, it can affect everyone. Even assisting other pc's in being attacked.

And just because you scanned the pirated game you downloaded does not mean it is safe. Or just because the torrent has a high quality meter. No matter how many scanners or things you throw at it, it does not mean it is safe just because it is showing as being "clean".

Also, privacy is never going to exist on your pc or any other device. I don't care what there privacy policy states. If the company wants your info they are going to get it without you knowing anyway. A piece of electronic document is not going to stop them.

Privacy is dead, has been for awhile. Does not matter if you stay off windows 10 or not. They already have info on you already.

Your awesome for reading this.
Even if you are right and privacy is dead, I would still like to make it a little bit harder for them, instead of rolling over and giving up. I can see a lot of "big brother can take care of you" arguments around the internetz and it's sort of sad, but I'm afraid that this will be much more mainstream in the following years. The outcry is wearing out.

As for piracy, it will never die. Just get better.

Just a reminder or two.

Windows 10 is still a baby. Their will be many problems found and corrected just like any new operating system. If you are using Windows 10 or want to try Windows 10 just give a little time to grow up.

Remember Windows 7 before and after SP-1.

Their is a new computer user crowd and they don't care about security and never will.

I know my personal information has been stole. I was in the hospital. That's all it takes.
Many large industries are still using XP and that includes many of the industries that have your medical records.
Doctors, hospitals, pharmacist, insurance companies and probably some more. Once your personal information is out there it's out there forever.

As we know the taking of personal information without permission is not new. The only difference that I see is Microsoft is telling upfront what they are going to do. We will just have to wait and see if Microsoft makes adjustments to their user agreement. They may or may not.

From post #7 by RoasterMen
Y'all gotta admit you pirated a software once. I admit I am one of them. Reason why there are pirates is because of difficulties of purchasing it like overwhelmingly high tax. There is a religion for pirates fyi

No everybody has not used torrents and or P2P's to download illegal things. I never have and I'm not going to start now.
I buy my music, movies, programs, operating systems, ect. that I want. If I don't have the money now I will just wait until I do.

Halo,

Just wanted to add. That I own all my MS OS Software. All My Devices and programs are owned,& all my PS4 games are all owned. I have stacks of CD's that are owned as well. If Bossiness that are running XP, and someone in the Link Started using unsafe Pirated Programs, & did not know what they were doing, we all would be in a world of hurt (privately).
I have to say, People I know have done nothing but complain about the problems in the New MS OS Win 10. I try to explain things to them . Like all new Operating systems, they will have to run in all different personal configurations, and compatibility levels, & you can not expect it to conform to all situations right off the hop. MS will look into compatibility when it arises. As well as all the other associated companies that deliver Driver Certs. and other limited software, Hardware conformities to keep there products Alive in this new age of Digital works.

One last thing.
Thanks Andrew129260

And I will add to this, using the internet alone collects info on you. Your isp collects information on what you do, the websites you visit track you, there seriously is no way around it. I'm not saying to wear a tinfoil hat and be scared of everything. But honestly, privacy no longer really exists, only the illusion of it.

That is why I have separate profiles or use different browsers, clean the browser catch before & after you visit the site will stop the tracking. Also, most Internet providers won't track ssl sites.

Just my thoughts.
Ones I.S.P. can track and monitor anything they want because everything goes through them when one is on the internet. No matter what their stated policy is, they can also change that to suit their needs, wants and desires. Really not much we can do about that.

I would just like to be able to trust Microsoft again. No more, no less.

If Microsoft is trying to stop privacy, just state so and how and what methods are going to be used.
I will continue to help the best I can.
The way I have done my part so far are. (I)
1. Don't steal music.
2. Don't steal movies.
3. Don't steal operating systems.
4. Don't steal programs.
5. Pay for everything on my computers that is suppose to be paid for.
What do you think? Pretty simple and I like simple.

How would one know if a I.S.P. was tracking a ssl site. Once the information hits their systems they can do as they please with such information. Whether it's legal or not; I have no idea. Unless one was a billionaire how would one fight it in court?
Their are just some things from behind our keyboards we can do and not do and still use our desired legal programs, operating systems and the internet.

That brings up another question. What if you use google's public dns 8.8.8.8 can your isp still see where the connection ends? Yes, I am aware google watches all connections that go over their public dns.

I have done a clean install of Windows 7 using Dell re-installation disk (Dell sent me one). I also use Free Macrium reflect backup and restore.
Your ISP can't see the content of data from SSL sites, as it is encrypted. But they certainly know where you are visiting as they have to make the request before the https connection is made. A Guy

Mostly true, unless the ISP intercepts the connection and deliver a fake certificate to you so that they can decrypt, then re-encrypt the data as it goes. Of course, the browser will show a warning here, that the user must ignore in order for this to succeed (that's why you never should just ignore a browser warning).

That brings up another question. What if you use google's public dns 8.8.8.8 can your isp still see where the connection ends? Yes, I am aware google watches all connections that go over their public dns.

Yes, they can. The ISP is always effectively a man in the middle so they can technically watch every traffic. The DNS requests are normally unencrypted so they can be watched as they go to Google, even if the ISP itself doesn't handles them. They also know what DNS server you're using and then the IP of the target website you're accessing afterwards.

As far as I know their is no really true hiding when one is on the internet.
If they want to monitor us they can. I think the trick is, don't give them a reason to want to.
With what I do on the internet they will not spend the time and money to monitor me.
They are going to find a lot of time on this site and Hulu.
Probably doesn't interest them.

Anyway I don't blame the sites for blocking windows spy 10.

If Microsoft can go in to windows 10 and see, delete anything from your computer it sees fit, then it's not safe at all.

What about legitimate downloads from them kind of sites, like game patches and free legal music? Can Microsoft windows 10 tell the difference?

Many things can be done, but would not. It would take considerable resources, and be illegal if not requested by LEA. IF LEA wanted to see your traffic, and got a proper warrant, then it could be done, but no ISP would do it themselves to collect information on you (referring to SSL traffic). A Guy
