Windows Mail in Windows 7

I was unhappy that there was no Outlook Express....I did not want to web mail as I would have to change my address...but I went to my provider (road runner) and they have a web site called webmail.com...and I use that especially when I am on the road, I can go to my website and get my mail with almost the same as OE, and I get to keep my address, no changing ...the only thing it is slower and there are commercials .....However I did download a free prog called"essentialPIM" which is free and it works pretty good. trying get your address from your other system was a lot of work, but it is not bad...outlook 2000, 2007 does not work worth a crap, to many windows pop and say it does not work.
Well that is my 2 cents

@sevensupport, quite the sappy story you have there. But lets put it in prespective. You are STUCK with Windows XP or lower. Outlook Express is dead and you could move to any other platform if you like. But you are still going have to stop using Outlook Express if you move away from Windows XP. So no matter what you do, you are screwed and SOL.

So maybe it is time you stop using Outlook Express now and find something else. Hmmm?

yeah, you are right, logicearth, it's really a whinge
i tried thunderbird, but it's not officially supporting win7
and it does not look like it can output its mails to outlook (for future convience)

it was really just a late night's whinge, feeling more rational now after a sleep
i'll find a way

I have upgraded to Windows 7 and am now using Thunderbird with the Penelope extension for both computers on my home network. I'm now trying to import my Windows Mail into Thunderbird. Anyone know where I can find them?

Some have used this tutorial to restore Win MAIL in 7
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5481-windows-mail.html[/QUOTE]

How about for those of us that do not have Vista installed? I do own Vista Biz upgrade DVD-I installed the full version of Win 7 Home Prem-Dual booting with xp pro-works great after a few fixes.
So... Can I still get Windows Mail? Off the DVD?
Thanks
Frank

Hey, you guys could try Opera 10 with Opera M2 email built in and see if you like it. The new Opera 10 is fast and has unique features (love the "notes"...take notes from any web site, double click the note and it takes you back to the web site; love the follower tab - great for forums,,rightclick on any page tab to create one..no more 10 or 20 tabs marching across the top).
I've been using Opera mail for years; you don't have to leave your browser to get your mail but it's all locally stored.
You may not like it but it's worth a look.

This may not be what you want to hear but my solution was to use Thunderbird 2 with the Penelope add-on.

When my PC had problems I went to a big PC store, with a USB stick.

I asked the salesman to let me try the 64bit machine, and when he walked away, I simply copied the required files onto my USB stick.

Simple, and quick.

Good luck

I loved Outlook Express, so simple, easy and nice to use. Windows Live mail is a pig.. horrible. No control, complicated.
