no there isnt, classic menus and toolbars are dead, live with it.

Here here. The ribbon functionality is highly accessible for all levels of Office user. It is the future and MS have stated they are not going back on this. Time to update yourself!

The ribbon takes some getting used to, just as casetes did when they replaced 8 tracks. I know you can customize the Quick Access Toolbar to some extent and hide the ribbon. Sorta kinda like having the toolbar thing, only different.

The ribbon in Office 2010 is fully customisable

Also there are many add-ons available for office 2007 to bring back the old menu system. due to the evolutionary nature of Office 2010 most of these should work with Office 2010

I was able to get be apart of the technical preview of the software and I have to say that microsoft's office products have always been solid. I will be looking forward to downloading the beta version and testing that out.

I too have been a part of the technical beta, and now that I have a retail version on my computer, I would like to figure out how to get Outlook to work, I can't seem to connect to my msn.com email......the outlook connector does not work, I tried that too.....

Hi Jerry,

Have you tried entering the email details manually? I have a live account, which should be similar, working without issue, but I never bothered with the connector, as I prefer all my email accounts go into one inbox not the separate ones that connectors produce.

Ive no problem with the ribbon, it is far better than toolbars, but I hate not having menus.

I probably wont be upgrading, 2003 still does everything I need.

My biggest complaint about the ribbon is not being able to customize it. I'll be getting 2010 beta when available.

Does Outlook work in the new version, or the one due out next month? I can not for the life of me get it to work at all....tried the connector also to no avail.....any help would be great, I love outlook..

I'm still using Outlook 2007 for production work but have trialed it on a laptop with data and it works fine - This is with a live address rather than an MSN one though.

The problem I have with the connector is that it creates a separate in-box for each account, which doesn't match the way I work - all accounts dump into a single inbox which is then filtered, flagged and sorted into folders

I've got it on my work laptop and simply use whatever work has provided...but I've never been inclined to actually own a copy of Microsoft Office for home use. I have a TechNet sub so it's a non-issue for me.

Gotcha. I've got an MSDN operating systems subscription at work....but that doesn't include the office products. Plus, I don't use my MSDN software from work at home either.

I would not actually use Office if I didn't need it to support clients - I would be quite happy using OpenOffice for my own work and I do keep an active copy as I have recommended OO to various people.

I must admit that I would probably be lost without outlook - I have it set up to sort and tag my emails and RSS feeds and it is also my client diary so it is essential there. Have not found anything that approaches the natural way it works for me, though that could just be familiarity of course

If you've ever had to use OpenOffice to edit a file that was created in a MS office app, you'd be happy to purchase office for your home use. The student/home version isnt that horribley priced.
