I'm running Office 2010 Beta x64, in Windows Professional x64, on a Torqx 64GB SSD. When it comes to "64", I'm "all in" and able to screw up more in less time than I ever thought possible.

Well said! :roflmao:

It'll upgrade your 32-bit 2007 to 2010 and you'll have to uninstall the 32-bit 2007 to install the 64-bit 2010

Thats a bummer...eventhough Office 2010 is an improvement of 2007 unlike how 2007 was an overhaul of 2003

If you've noticed, lately things have been just mostly improving performance.

Vista -> 7
Office 2007 -> Office 2010
OneCare -> MSE

IE8 -> IE9 will likely be mostly performance as well. IE9 only scores 32/100 on the Acid3 test so far.
Its the same over in Apple land...

Leopard -> Snow Leopard

...and Ubuntu land...

Jaunty Jackalope -> Karmic Koala

I'd say Karmic had more features to add then Vista -> 7 or Leopard -> Snow Leopard.

Am I remembering correctly or did Apple say something like 'Windows 7 is basically Vista relabled'? Because thats the same with Leopard mostly. :p

You've got the blood of a real beta tester!!!

Screw up as much as you can and as fast as you can so they can fix it as fast as possible or get rid of it as fast as possible.

:p

You have no idea the fun factor involved here. I've got a Raptor as C:\, the SSD as D:\, and just installed a VelociRaptor as E:\ - will put Win7 Pro and Office 2010 on that too. I decided to name the VelociRaptor "VeRap" in Explorer, it looks way cooler.

I'm pretty sure I'm approaching the proverbial line of "...as much fun as you can have with your clothes on".

I do thank all here for the help I've gotten.

I got the same result after rebooting and don't have any other office software installed! The exclamation mark only said this...

Register for online services on Office.comRegister for online services on Office.com

Office.com is the Web site where you can get free online services for Microsoft Office. To make sure that these services are available to you, connect to the Internet and complete a brief registration and sign-in process.
What online services do I have to register for?

Registration grants you authorization to use the free services hosted on Office.com that require authentication.
You can use the product updates, templates, clip art, and Help on Office.com without registering. However, for example, if you want to publish your Microsoft Outlook calendar using the Microsoft Outlook calendar publishing service, you must register.
Notes

  • Registration is not the same process as activation. While you must activate your software for it to work correctly, registration is entirely optional.
  • When you register for Microsoft Online Services, you are asked to sign in by using your Microsoft Passport Network credentials (an e-mail address and a password). You can register for those credentials at the Passport Network Web site. You are also asked to enter additional information, such as a display name and a country/region. Your display name is shown when you use personalization features on Office.com.
  • For more information about your privacy rights, see the privacy statement on the Web site where you register.

Any ideas anybody?

You can do an upgrade install but when the beta expires .... :confused:
that's another story then. Anyway I have decided I am going to buy it as soon as possible, aswell as upgrade our office computers now using 2007.

Thanks Tews. Installing as we speak.

Kari

Didn't work:
2010.PNG

However, after uninstalling Tech Prewiev everything went smoothly. I was mostly concerned about Outlook but had no problems. I just made a backup of Outlook folders in AppData\Local\Microsoft\ and AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ and restored them after the reinstall.

All my accounts, rules, settings and mail are there. Nice.

installation smoooooth as ,,,,,

I unninstalled my office 2007 then without a reeboot installed office 2010 64 bit and it picked up all my old settings including my unique locale pst file for my calender and remembered all my settings :geek:

so far it looks similar to office 2007 very polished and slick but it is much more responsive and snappy and calender loads much quicker :)

registering the key was a bit strange where i entered the key and when i clicked complete it went back to the origonal install window, which then ran for a few seconds then confirmed registration, I had to shutdown office and reopen to have the registration show as verified :rolleyes:

I have yet to explore the online options :cool:

Yes. Keep your .PST in folder outside of C drive and run Outlook from there. You never loose anything that way.

I installed x64 last night. Did not save anything, just uninstalled 2007 and installed 2010.

All my files and folders present and correct.. Outlook - all my accounts and all my messages, addresses etc. present and correct.

The only hassle I have is the 'Prompt to delete on exit' not working correctly, so have disabled it completely and will do manual deletes if and when I remember.
