Awesome!!! how the hell do you manage to create and retain the transparency. Freakin good.

Can we make a rule in this thread? Like, every poster who creates a siggie or avatar for self or others should also post the applications used for it? This will help other starters like me to learn and explore more.

Hi there everyone. I am trying my hand in creating my own sig (using adobe ps cs4) am having a little trouble. Maybe someone can send me to a link or tell me what to do. My problem is probably simple. How does one paste/copy an image(s) or icon(s) on top of the background?
Any help is appreciated.

XP, Irfanview and PS CS2.
Seems like Avatars here do not carry transparency .. so I usually fake a transparent background.
Other transparencies and animations are gif files .. "saved for web" from PS CS2.

How does one paste/copy an image(s) or icon(s) on top of the background

I usually drag n drop a new pic to a new layer on top of a background or other Layers.
Then erase the parts that I want to see thru .. to the lower layer(s)

I used CorelDraw, CorelPhoto Paint & Photoshop

Dreams we have a cool tool in Corel called "Interactive Transparency Tool" (bottom image) This allows us to Show/Hide more of the image that is above another image by just adjusting a slider.

So, in CS2 I wil try the foll, let me know if I am right.
Compress my siggie a little bit. Open a new layer wit transparent background wit 600*100, place the compressed siggie on top of it, do somethn wit rounded rectangle and save as png or gif for enabling transparency.

I'd just open the sig in PS .. Then erase what I didn't want to see ....
And maybe temporarly make a background layer (layer 3) to see if I erased all.
I also Press CTRL+J to make new layer(s) ..
Kinda like having an internal Backup of the original (layer 0)
