Hi Elias,

Your answer explains my last question about Who's Online.

As regards the suggestion of a disk cleanup, I have done this to no avail. I opened the gadget, performed a standard cleanup (all options except Hibernation File Cleaner selected). No change in the gadget. I then closed and re-opened it. Still no change. I then performed a cleanup again, this time selecting Cleanup system files, again selecting all options except for HFC. Still no change in the gadget, even when I closed and re-opened it.

Dam, I thought I was on to something with that, the reason I suggested it was because I changed my avatar and it was still the old one on the gadget for over a day until I used disk cleanup and then it was instantly changed to the new one.

I can't login with the gadget at all. I had a problem with not being able to login to live messenger in b7000 that started a couple days ago. Don't use it much so no biggie, but then today the gadget can't log me in either. Switched to b7057 and messenger is working fine, but the gadget still not working. Have tried cleaning IE files, temp. cookies and such, but to no avail. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no help. Any ideas.

Edit: have tried autologin, nothing. tried manual login and get the wait 15 mins warning.

Here's a snip showing both the gadget AND the webpage version simultaneously.

As you can see, the icons are present on the webpage, but not in the gadget.

I'm with Dwarf on this one, Disk cleanup does nothing as I've cleared my FF cache and used CCleaner a bunch of times which usually leaves nothing for Disk cleanup in 7057, re downloaded and all that, it does nothing for the icons.

I can log in as you, and guess what? The icons ARE showing correctly, so it must be something to do with the extra sub-forums that I am entitled to.

I verified this by closing the gadget, re-opening it as a guest (icons showing) and then repeating but logging in as myself (icons missing).

Yeah, the same thing happened to me signing in as Limneos yesterday. without the other forums, the icons work. maybe be a permission problem.

No worries, now that's confirmed I better delete the link for my gadget so no one can access my user account.

Have you tried Disk Cleanup with the gadget and sidebar closed? and it didn't work?

Did you get an email entitled Failed Login Notification on Windows 7 Forums, and if so, did it mention the IP address 72.55.179.102?

This IP is my server's IP...Sevenforums server blocks my server from trying to authenticate after 5 unsuccessful logins

However, the perplexing question is why this is happening, as I've had this happen to me a few times now, and I'm entering my login details manually (which I know ARE correct). I have even created a text file, and tried copying and pasting from that to ensure that I don't inadvertantly make an error, but this makes no difference.

This time, the icons showed until the first refresh, after which they disappeared again. I also tried closing and re-opening the gadget, but the icons didn't appear again.

Can you temporarily cut out the VIP forum as well, as this is also a privileged area, to see if that makes any difference.

Incidentally, have you noticed that you now have access to the SF Team?

I believe it happens right now because I'm doing updates to the main script, and when it fails to open it, it causes unsuccessful logins? maybe.

The gadget is coming up with a new feature that I hope you will like...

Dwarf, it is your ip that has caused the 15 minutes blockage, and I see that you have attempted to login as frawd instead of Dwarf. Those unsuccesful logins may cause this blockage. I can't tell if you have the credentials correct, cause I can't see the encrypted passwords and of course I don't know your correct login info, but in any case I trust you when you say you got them right.

However, something is causing bad login attempts from you,it might be switching from guest to registered user. Try not opening the gadget for a while until the 15 minutes time has passed, then try to login again using your correct data.

Meanwhile, I'll check what causes the misauthentications

Never mind, don't do anything. I made a mistake on the script and it was adding garbled data to the username and passwords when sending them

Fixed it. Just wait 5-10 minutes and try again
