Hello everyone!:D

I'm going to tell you my little story about what I think is the biggest Windows 7 crash I ever heard of...

It all started when I leaved home and left my laptop on. The power was cut off and it kept on going on the battery for a few minutes until it went into sleep mode. My dad thought to shutdown my laptop thinking that when the power will come back it will probably damage the laptop. So, he didn't see the shutdown button on the LOG IN screen and he just held the power button down until the laptop shut down.

When I came home and tried to start my laptop it didn't want to load my Windows 7 Professional x64 OS, and instead it just gave me the Startup Repair screen you can see in the attachements.

I've tried to repair the OS with the Startup repair option about 10-12 times but it didn't work. It said something about that it can't be completed successfully and that I should try it again after restarting. (it also said that a file, sorry I can't remember its name now, was corrupted...something with sys*****) I tried it so many times... but without any improvements.

I entered the Command Prompt screen and wanted to see why it didn't load and if I still have all of my important documents. I did, but when I wanted to access the partitions with CMD commands I saw that there were 3 partitions instead of the 2 I had before.
The C:\ partition where I had installed the Windows 7 OS was now a 100mb partition with some Windows 7 files and it said the partition was System Reserved.
The D:\ partition which was the DVD-ROM was now a new partition with all that I initially had in C:\ (including all of the Windows 7 files and my files), and partition E:\ remained the same.

I tried with the "DISKPART" command to see more things but i didn't really make any commands to change the contents of my "new" partitions.

A friend of mine told me about this forum and of a post he saw, a MBR post (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master-boot-record.html), and I tried the things explained here. My DVD-ROM doesn't work so I had to try to boot it from a removable device so I used a program recommended by the same friend called "UNETBOOTIN" and burned an original Windows 7 Professional x64 on my USB flash drive (I got it from MSDNA so it's not a pirate version) using my brother's PC from which I am posting now.

I changed the order of booting on my laptop from the BIOS and put the first device to boot from to be a Removable device and the first time it did work, it booted the Windows 7 installation from the USB flash drive, so I continued with the instructions from the MBR post.

After I restarted it didn't really work and it showed me the same System Repair window. I restarted 2-3 more times and I tried again the Startup Repair option. This time it said it successfully "repaired" something and that I would have to restart in order to see if Windows would load or not. After I restarted I got the second screen...the awfull black one you can see in the attachments and I can't get past it. I can't even access CMD so I can try to copy my files on another HDD and then try to format.

So, my question is: HOW CAN I ACCESS CMD? or better, MAKE WINDOWS 7 BOOT? and work properly without any of my files getting lost.(that would be the best case)

10x in advanced for the one who can help me!

I recommend (Its Risky)

Remove the Laptops HDD and isert it into a working Laptop (with a cd drive)
And insert your windows 7 disc and do a clean install and create a system restore POINT (Not a actual restore)
Then insert the HDD into the old laptop and check to see if it works

PLease be careful whilst handelling the HDD as they are very sensitive and Brittel

PLease try this !

Sadly I don't have another laptop...and if i would send it to ASUS Service (my laptop is an ASUS M50S-AK037) it would take more than a week and I would need my laptop working 3 days from now... I'd want to at least get some of my information I need to use 3 days from now and then reinstall Windows... but i'd prefer the option where I would make Windows work without reinstalling...

Well, I do have my brother's desktop from where I'm posting/replying now but... I think I'll lose my warranty if I open up my laptop... I've still got 11 months of warranty and I wouldn't really want to lose them... and also I really don't want to risk damaging my laptop's HDD...

I'm really looking for a more "software"-oriented solution than hardware... anything without opening up my laptop is acceptable

By the way... now it doesn't even want to boot from the removable device  any ideas why or what to do...? 10x!

Before you start experimenting with the OS, I suggest to save your files with a live Linux distro - e.g. this one: Computer First Aid Using Knoppix But if you have another Linux distro handy, that will do too.

I have to say that my DVD\ROM isn't working so... another solution would come in handy... something that would use either my USB flash drive or ... something that would help me access a CMD window

I did manage to find an Ubuntu 5.0 live CD but like I've said... the DVD-ROM won't even start spinning it... so, can't use the optical drive...

I've tried it once and the second time it didn't work (i've explained in my other posts in this thread that the first time it booted correctly from the stick and I continued with the instructions in the other thread from this forum, the MBR thread [you have the link in a previous post of mine], and the second time it wouldn't boot)...and now I've formatted the USB flash drive again and am going to try to boot Windows 7 Professional x64 from it again...

Is there any possibility of installing a new Windows 7 OVER my existing Windows 7 OS? A friend told me that with XP it was possible to just install a new XP on the same partition and you wouldn't lose the data. I don't think he was talking about reinstalling... Maybe it's just a myth, maybe not... that's why I'm asking pros :D

Follow this link and do exactly as it says:

How to Install Windows 7 From USB Drive without Windows 7 ISO DVD

As for your problem: That 100mb partition you are seeing is the hidden partition windows 7 uses as its boot manager. (As for your error code, 0xc000000f ,this tells us the hidden partition is where the corruption is.)

There is 2 solutions you can attempt:

Attempt a repair from the options on the flash drive.. if that fails when the setup is loading it will ask to press an "F" key for recovery options.. don't remember which function key it is.. load command and do the following:

C: (assuming the C drive is the default windows installation partition)
CD Boot
Dir
Bootrec /rebuildbcd

(Let the this run and it should rebuild the BCD and the issue should be resolved)
