Newbie W7 questions

I just installed windows 7, last night (literally). Even though I'm not using it right now (I am at school), I have a few questions to ask. I figure putting them all in one thread would be more more considerate instead of making 5 or 6 threads...

1. Is there a way to change the time the system waits on the OS selection menu? Currently it is set at 30 seconds, which is far too long for anything. I'd much rather it to be something small, say 2-5 seconds. After all, it is only used when you are at your computer..

2. Any way to disable the opacity that all the windows have, without selecting the windows 7 starter theme.

3. I have a 205gb internal hard drive. MY computer previously had two partitions on the disk. C and D. D was a recovery partition, 8.5gb I had to install windows 7 twice, because I didn't think to remove D before installing, so I had to do it so C would use the space D had.
But now, C is only listed as having a maximum capacity of 234 gb. Is something wrong, or is that normal. I recall buying a 500gb external and only having 460gb of space..

4. How many "ticks" of the mouse wheel to make the icons on the desktop to be roughly the same size as they were on XP? Also, what is the font of icon text from XP, so I can change them to make the icons the same size as XP in shape and font.

5. Any way to manually up the cpu fan speed? One night I noticed that my cpu fan was at max for a few hours (2500, still silent) and my cpu temp was down to 45, from its usual temp of 60-70 @900-1000 rpm..
Also posted here :(

6. Is there a way to change the contrast via software? I have a netbook (win7 starter, separate computer from what everything else is about), and it has horrible blacks/contrast, making watching videos impossible. Sent it to HP once, paid for shipping, the didn't do anything to it..

Thank you :)

Qusestion 1:
WIN |type MSCONFIG | ENTER | Boot tab
There you can change that boot up wait.

WIN is the key with the wavy flag.

And now to question 3:
We are going to benefit here from a snapshot of the MAXIMIZED output of Disk Managment.

To run Disk Management:
WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER

To maximize:
ALT +Spacebar | x

To make a snapshot:
WIN | type SNIPP | ENTER

To attach the snapshot:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-how-post-screenshot-seven-forums.html

I will upload an image of disk management in about 2hr 30 min when I get home. But just to give you an idea of what I did..
(was all through HP live support chat, mind you, and the person didn't really understand what he was telling me, but I did)
1.Installed win7, deleted windows.old via system clean up
2. formatted D
3. deleted D
4. restarted, C was not bigger, was told to reinstall windows
5. On installation partitions menu, 8.5 gb (size of D) was unallocated. Spent half an hour how to make it part of C before I realized installation did it for me..
6. C was now listed as 232 (or something like) GB.

Now, I can see that the space of D went into C, but it is still nowhere near the drive's listed max of 250. I'm thinking it is all normal, because drive never have the listed amount of disk space..

Perhaps my post wasn't the best.

Could you also include the graphical part?

Are you presently using the "raw" drive for anything?

Sorry, didn't notice the graphical part was there.
The "raw" drive was a blank disk in my dvd drive.

Thanks. Now all I need help with are two more things
4. How many "ticks" of the mouse wheel to make the icons on the desktop to be roughly the same size as they were on XP? Also, what is the font of icon text from XP, so I can change them to make the icons the same size as XP in shape and font.

And..

7. I'm trying to use homegroups to connect my laptop and desktop. I've gotten it so that I can print from my laptop to the printer attached to my desktop, and I am able to access my external hard disk that is attacked to my desktop from my laptop.
But I can't access my desktop's desktop folder from my laptop. It says I don't have rights, even after I have set my desktop's C drive to be shared..
Before I went to 7 on my desktop, I was able to access files on my desktop folder and external drive with no problem.
