I am unable to run the scan without it crashing. I've tried several times and in safe mode as well.

Then it is as I suspected. It's time to format your system. I am sorry for that.
Remember to backup your personal files. And if your HDD is not partitioned now, partition it at the time of Windows installation - let something around 200GB for Windows and other gigabytes for temporary files, like movies, series, etc..
Please come back and let us know the results!

I reformatted and partitioned my hard drive. Then I installed the driver only online download for my video card without first installing the cd that came with the card. Now the video card is recognized. No problems so far. Hopefully the crashes wont happen anymore either.

thanks for the help.

Glad to hear that everything looks good! Anyway, I ask you to come back and give us news about such stability, right?!

So I partitioned my hard drive with 200 of a 1tb hd to windows. I am now beginning to wonder why I put so much space on the windows partition. Also, is there a way to make the libraries from "my computer" to directly access a partition other than c drive? Or do i always have to select the other partition every time I want to access music or movies?
