    Xfire 2x 5770 or 1 Nvidia/ATI bigger card?

Ok so I recently rebuilt with a i5 760 Quad 2.8Ghz, 8Gigs A-Data DDR31600 and MSI P55A-GD65 motherboard. Other components if anyones interested are Corsair 850TX, Antec900 Case, BFG GTX275 OC 768Meg GDDR3, dual Samsung 2333SW Monitors, dual Samsung DvDRW and (2) 250Gig HD one WD other is seagate.

Now with all the rebuilding I have done kinda got the itch to put a new video card in. The MSI will support Xfire, so if I go dual cards has to be ATI. I am NOT here to boxing match ATI Vs Nvidia, they both seem to be making quality products and I am not really biased towards either company. I multitask alot, usually on a given day I can have 2 games, browser with 6-10tabs, voice comm, and more running. The game I play that probably is the heaviest on my graphics is CoDMW2 and/or Battlefield Bad Company 2.

The best I can find in information via tomshardware is that a single 5770 is about equal to what I have now, so in theory if I run dual 5770's in Xfire shouldn't it be better? Or would I be better served with a beefier single card such as a GTX470 or a HD 5870? I play WoW, CSS, MW2, BFBC2, UT2004 as well I use photoshop and Illustrator alot as well.

Thanks for any input, looking to purchase in the next 2 weeks.

I agree I would buy the best card I could afford, that way later on you could add a second card if you felt the need to. Fabe

Single powerful card - much less complications.
